Here, as on many Caribbean islands, fishing is a popular pastime for Barbadians, and also a way of life – for local fisherman and for those who come here every year to take part in local and international tournaments.

Deep sea fishing, otherwise known as sport fishing, is also extremely popular with tourists. Various fishing tours can be booked whilst on holiday in Barbados, and throughout the Caribbean. The excitement and anticipation of waiting to see what will be caught out at sea is an adventure in itself.

This particular deep sea fishing tour will take you out into Barbados’ warm waters, where you are likely to catch big game fish such as Yellow and Black Fin Tuna, Barracuda, Sailfish, Wahoo, Dorado (dolphin fish), Billfish, Kingfish, Swordfish, Blue Marlin and White Marlin, depending on the time of year. Fishing tours are available all year round in Barbados, but it is particularly exciting between January and April when the various game fish species are all in season.

Barbados takes great pride in the deep sea fishing just off its shores, where big catches have resulted in game fishing world records, as they have in other areas off the Caribbean coast. Your knowledgeable and experienced captain and crew know the best fishing grounds in the region, and will be on hand to give you help and advice during the trip – as well as plenty of exciting, offshore action! Transfers, rods, bait, drinks and snacks will be provided on the tour, so all you have to do is be patient and wait to see what you catch!

Ground broken on multi-million dollar "Sandals Barbados Phase II" expansion project

Ground has been broken on the expansion of the Dover Beach project in Barbados by Sandals Resorts International. The construction of "Sandals Barbados Phase II" is scheduled to be completed by November, 2017, and will include the addition of 222 guest rooms and suites, seven new swimming pools, five restaurants, a spa and wellness sanctuary, and an entertainment centre.

Barbados recorded increase in tourist arrivals and visitor spending in 2016

The Caribbean Tourism Organisation has revealed that Barbados recorded a 6.7 per cent increase in international visitors in 2016, compared to 2015. The Barbados Statistical Service reported that the Caribbean island received 631,513 stay-over visitors between January and December last year, and there was an increase of arrivals every month of the year except for April.
