A former English teacher and now a proud stay-at-home (when I'm not off somewhere more exciting) mum of three boisterous and ridiculously entertaining children, I'm an enthusiastic, forty-something traveller and blogger in search of new adventures for me and my energetic, wander-lusting family.

As an avid reader and confessed serial-traveller, I blog about my travel experiences, with child-specific recommendations and handy tips for parents as well. Trying to find the perfect balance between family fun and relaxation, with some time off from my sometimes physically draining and spiritually exhausting family duties, is my ultimate goal when jetting off somewhere.

Between running around after an energetic five-year old and keeping up with the ever-changing moods of my 13-year-old teen whilst not losing track of the mischief my 10-year-old constantly gets up to; all my free time is devoted to dreaming about escaping to a thrilling new destination and planning my next family getaway.

Finding the perfect mix of attractions for every member of the family in any of the destinations we visit is a priority that's always reflected in my choice of destination, location and accommodation. Read my articles for inspirational travel stories, top tips and essential family travel advice.

Abu Dhabi: the unexpectedly exciting destination

In very rare occasions do we get to mix business with pleasure but this was one of those rare times where due to work reasons I got to indulge in the lap of luxury and enjoy a destination often overlooked in favour of its bigger, brighter, louder and more famous neighbour. Whilst Dubai might quadruple Abu Dhabi in size, it can't beat the capital of the UAE in terms of subdued sophistication, unique cultural attractions like the Guggenheim and Louvre museums, amazing constructions like the Formula 1 circuit, Ferrari World or the manmade Yas Island, plus authentic adventures with thrilling desert safaris and natural mangroves. To round it all off there are excellent hotels to enjoy it all from - and I got to sample quite a few. Read on how to enjoy a truly exciting off-the-radar emirate that has plenty to shout about!
