Dominican Republic records growth in tourism arrivals in 2018

The tourism industry in the Dominican Republic is recording strong growth in 2018, according to figures released by the nation's Central Bank. The number of tourist arrivals visiting the Caribbean country in the first eight months of 2018 is up by 5.5 percent compared to the same period last year, with North American travellers continuing to be the main source market.

Maldives wins big at World Travel Awards 2018 with three accolades

During the latest edition of the World Travel Awards Maldives' excellent reputation as a popular holiday destination was recognised with three different titles. During the awards gala ceremony held in South Africa, Maldives was declared the Indian Ocean's Leading Destination, Indian Ocean's Leading Dive Destination and Indian Ocean's Leading Beach Destination, to the delight of the island nation's tourism representatives.

Hilton and Playa Hotels and Resorts to debut new resort

A deal was recently reached between Hilton and Playa Hotels & Resorts to form two new resorts, Hilton La Romana and Hilton Playa del Carmen, both of which will be all-inclusive resorts. The new properties will debut later in 2018. The agreement also allows for the potential for the conversion and management of 8 additional resorts by 2025.

Jumby Bay Resort in Antigua to unveil renovations this month

Jumby Bay Island in Antigua is undergoing extensive renovations which will be revealed this month. The multi-million-dollar renovation project started in July at the private-island resort in the Caribbean, and the project is now in its second of a three-phase development. This month, the hotel's upgraded lobby, spa, bar and restaurant will be unveiled.

Cambodia's new eco-friendly Six Senses Krabey Island resort on track to open in December
