Virgin Limited Edition has revealed photographs of the refurbished Necker Island in the Caribbean. The island retreat, which belongs to British entrepreneur Richard Branson, was damaged by the hurricanes in 2017, and the hotel was forced to close for refurbishments and repairs.
Located in the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean, Necker Island spans 30 tropical hectares and underwent extensive renovations over the last year. The luxury getaway reopened to guests in October this year, and is available to hire exclusively for up to 30 guests for $77,500 per night.
The transformed Necker 2.0 has 11 guest rooms in its Great House, including the famous Master Suite on the upper level with a private outdoor Jacuzzi and sundeck, and a bunkroom that can accommodate up to six children. There is also a new Balinese-style house with accommodation for two adults. All of the bedrooms boast a private balcony, and they have king-size beds and en-suite bathrooms.
Jon Brown, the Managing Director for Virgin Limited Edition, stated:
“It is wonderful to see Necker Island’s beauty restored and to have welcomed back our first guests.
“It has been a busy year and it’s not over yet as we look forward to 2019 and the reopening of further accommodations; including a new and improved Bali Hi complex which will feature an extended pool and outdoor lounge as well as a private plunge pool in each of the individual Bali Houses.”
During their stay on Necker Island, guests can enjoy upscale facilities and services including private pools, tennis courts and a personal chef. They can relax and sunbathe on the white sand beach, go snorkelling or scuba diving in turquoise waters, indulge in pampering spa treatments, or enjoy tranquil yoga sessions by the pool or on the beach.
Richard Branson first purchased the island in the early 1980’s for £180,000. Over the years, Necker Island has become a hotspot for celebrities and famous faces, from former U.S President Barack Obama, to Hollywood stars like Kate Winslet. Richard Branson married his wife on Turtle Beach on the island, and his daughter also tied the knot there.
