Colony Club in Barbados to host 70th-anniversary celebrations in November 2018

Elegant Hotels Group has revealed it will launch a series of celebrations in November to mark the 70th anniversary of its Colony Club. The group, which has a collection of hotels in Barbados, will celebrate the Colony Club's rich history with a Platinum Jubilee theme, and there will be plenty of food and rum events for guests to take part in throughout the month.

The Elegant Hotels Group has announced it will launch a month-long series of celebratory events to mark the 70th anniversary of its Colony Club. From 4th to 24th November 2018, the hotel’s Platinum Jubilee will be marked by fun food and rum events and activities.

The hotel group, which owns a collection of luxury hotels in Barbados, will be celebrating the history of the iconic hotel, which was originally a private sugar plantation home and stables in 1930. It then became the first residential club in Barbados, and was then transformed into an upscale hotel.

Located on the Platinum West Coast of Barbados, has 96 guest rooms and suites, and it sits on a pristine stretch of white-sand beach. Surrounded by landscaped gardens, this laid-back hotel has become a firm favourite for tourists over the past 70 years.

The property has lagoon-style swimming pools, and promotes healthy lifestyle, laidback luxury, elegant dining, and warm Bajan hospitality. Guests can enjoy Jazz and Lobster evenings, ‘bait to plate’ fishing trips accompanies by a Colony Club chef, as well as other themed activities and entertainment.

The Colony Club is famous for its gastronomic delights, and it boasts its own organic garden with diverse produce. The hotel’s "Taste of Barbados" concept allows guests to savour the spirit of the island nation during the anniversary celebrations. They will taste dishes from across the seven decades, and will discover the different cooking style of Barbados. The "Orchid Menu and Through the Years" dinner events will reproduce the Colony Club's old fine dining menu, and guests will learn how the club has changed over the years.

The Colony Club will also open the first Rum Vault in Barbados. The Rum Vault will have the largest collection of rum in Barbados, with more than 150 varieties of rum sources from countries all over the globe.

The Rum Vault will host a range of special events and activities, from rum-inspired cookery classes and rum-themed mixology demonstrations, to an exclusive private rum pairing lunch or dinner for up to eight guests. The new venue will feature traditional members' club design, with dark wood furnishings, leather seats and local artwork dotted on walls. There will be a locally-made eight-seater tasting table where guests can enjoy intimate dining experiences. The Rum Vault is scheduled to open in November 2018.

Elegant Hotels Group operates nine luxury beachfront hotels and venues on the west and south coasts of Barbados, catering for both family holidays and sophisticated adults-only breaks.
