Abu Dhabi records increase in hotel guests in first five months of 2018

Abu Dhabi has recorded an increase of 4.9 percent in the number of hotel guests in the first five months of 2018, compared to the same period in 2017. The Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi has release new figures that show hotel occupancy rates averaging at 75 percent during the period between January and May this year. The majority of visitors originated from China.

Abu Dhabi has recorded an increase in hotel guests in the first five months of 2018. The emirate saw a 4.9 percent rise in stayover visitors between January and May this year, compared to the same period in 2017.

According to new figures released by the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), a total of 2,073,586 guests stayed in the emirate’s 162 hotels, resorts and hotel apartments during this period. With 31,236 rooms available, the average length of stay for guests was 2.7 nights, an increase of 2.4 percent compared to the same period last year.

China continued to be the main source market for hotel guests in Abu Dhabi with 192,500 visitors in total, which was an increase of 19.9 percent on last year. India was the next biggest market with 166,700 guests, while the UK came in third place with 119,900 guests, and a 12.7 percent increase.

Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates, and a leading destination for business and leisure travellers, with sweeping beaches, vast desert, warm ocean waters, and offshore islands. The vibrant city is home to an array of luxury hotels and resorts, many of which operate under global hotel chains such as Marriott International, IHG, and Jumeirah.

From striking architectural wonders, to upscale beachfront resorts, the emirate boasts a collection of unique properties. One of the city’s most famous hotels is the seven-star Emirates Palace Hotel with its palatial architecture and 394 lavish guest rooms and suites.

Holidaymakers of all ages can enjoy access to a variety of attractions in Abu Dhabi. These include Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, the Marina Mall, the Corniche, the Abu Dab Mall, Emirates Park Zoo, Khalifa Park, Saadiyat Island with its nature reserve, and Yas Island with the Yas WaterWorld Abu Dhabi, Yas Marina Circuit, and a championship golf course. Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi has also recently opened on Yas Island, and it is the largest indoor theme park with six lands including DC’s Metropolis and Gotham City, Cartoon Junction, Bedrock, Dynamite Gulch and Warner Bros Plaza.
