Mandarin Oriental announces new Grand Cayman hotel
Luxury hotel operator Mandarin Oriental has revealed plans to open a new resort on Grand Cayman, the largest of the tropical Cayman Islands in the western Caribbean. Slated to open in 2021, the new 100-room beachfront resort will be the company's second hotel in the Caribbean.
International luxury hotel group Mandarin Oriental has announced it will debut its second resort in the Caribbean in 2021. The new Mandarin Oriental Grand Cayman will feature 100 luxury beachfront rooms and 89 branded residences on 67 acres of waterfront at St James’ Point in the Cayman Islands.
The exclusive resort will sit on the southern shore of Grand Cayman island, famous for its acres of tropical white sand beaches. Located 15 minutes’ drive from the airport, the resort will be constructed in an elevated position overlooking its own secluded beach, offering guests and residents a private luxury retreat.
Spacious and contemporary rooms and suites will all face the sea with sunrise and sunset views. There will be five restaurants and bars providing a variety of dishes and drinks with terraces and tables overlooking the ocean. The development will also have its own farm offering a farm-to-table dining experience.
The resort will feature a range of wellness options including a signature Spa at Mandarin Oriental, a fully-equipped fitness centre, several outdoor swimming pools and tennis courts. Landscaped walking and cycling tracks will traverse the 67-acre site and a beach club will offer a variety of leisure and watersports activities.
A range of flexible meeting and banqueting facilities, including outdoor areas, will provide ample space for destination weddings, social and business events.
The luxury serviced Residences at Mandarin Oriental will benefit from the resort’s renowned service combined with dedicated owner facilities, and easy access to all the hotel’s amenities. Mandarin Oriental Group’s Chief Executive James Riley said:
“We are delighted to announce this exciting new project, which will be the group’s second property in the Caribbean and a fitting extension to our growing global resort portfolio.
“The owner has assembled a spectacular site and has the long-term vision to create a unique resort experience that, together with Mandarin Oriental’s renowned service, will ensure an exceptional offering in Grand Cayman.”
The three Cayman Islands – Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac – are a British Overseas Territory located in the western Caribbean.
