Caribbean Journal lists the top ten all-inclusive Costa Rica resorts

Boasting an incredible flora and fauna, Costa Rica is one of the world’s greatest nature destinations.

Adventurous travellers can explore everything from volcanos to thermal baths to hiking trails and beaches. Nevertheless, there are also fantastic opportunities for relaxed getaways in amazing resorts.

Caribbean Journal, a prestigious online tourism magazine, recently revealed a list of the best all-inclusive destinations within Costa Rica.

These are the top ten all-inclusive resorts chosen by Caribbean Journal

  1. Secrets Papagayo

The country’s flagship all-inclusive, AMResorts is one of the region’s fastest-expanding hotel companies, and Secrets Papagayo is one its finest property. Famous for its luxurious facilities, the hotel comprises 202 rooms and suites (either garden or ocean view), three a la carte restaurants (and one buffet eatery) and three bars, including a swim-up option.

  2. Riu Palace Costa Rica

Part of Riu’s top-level Palace sub-brand, this 538-room resort is set right on the shores of Guanacaste’s Matapalo beach. Some of the venue’s standout features include four swimming pools, a wellness centre (including a “Renova Spa”), and 24-hour room service to a global mix of culinary offerings (from Japanese food to a steakhouse). The hotel also offers excursions to nearby volcanos and activities like kayaking, sailing and diving.

  3. Westin Golf Resort & Spa Playa Conchal

The ideal place for those who wish to practice their swing, the Westin Golf Resort & Spa Playa Conchal is a lavish resort with 406 rooms, a terrific spa and the world-class Reserva Conchal Golf Course designed by Robert Trent Jones II.

  4. La Paloma Lodge

Situated on the Drake Bay, La Paloma Lodge is a unique boutique all-inclusive property. Boasting authentic and beautiful “ranchos” accommodations that emphasize intimacy with nature, the place is ideal to appreciate the surroundings.

  5. Drake Bay Getaway Resort

Once again a small yet lavish and charming property, Drake Bay Getaway Resort is a boutique eco-lodge. The property comprises five cute cabins with breath-taking vistas of the surrounding natural setting. The food also outstanding, as products are fresh and locally sourced.

  6. Doubletree Resort by Hilton Central Pacific

This Hilton property is renowned not only for its lavish interiors and great services, but also for its close proximity to stunning eco sites. Featuring sparkling views of the coast, the Doubletree Resort is within short distance of Tortuga Island, the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and the Arenal volcano.

  7. Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica

Also part of the AMResort brand, Dreams Las Mareas is an all-inclusive venue set on set on Playa El Jobo in Guanacaste. With 447 suites, eight dining options and seven bars, the hotel is suited to both couples, families and groups of friends.

  8. Barcelo Tambor

Barcelo Tambor counts with a privileged location on the beautiful Tambor Beach and boasts 402 rooms. This Costa Rica jewel offers wonderful golf on site, a wide range of restaurants and seemingly endless entertainment.

  9. Occidental Tamarindo

Also part of the Barcelo hotel group, Occidental Tamarindo is a smaller, 198-room property set in Costa Rica’s northwest near Tamarindo. The main attraction is possibly the incredible beach, Playa Langosta, which provides great opportunities for surfing or simply relaxing.

  10. Hotel Riu Guanacaste

Finally, the Hotel Riu Guanacaste completes the list of excellent all-inclusive Costa Rica resorts. Set on Matapalo beach, the enormous 701-room venue offers miles of lush gardens, beachfront and great facilities, including buffets, four themed restaurants and three swimming pools, along with the company’s Renova Spa.
