Virgin Holidays signs new partnership with Anguilla Tourist Board

Virgin Holidays continues to expand its horizons by striking a new deal with the tourism authorities of Anguilla, a minute and charming Caribbean island. The group, whose carrier Virgin Atlantic already offers regular flights to the island, has announced a new programme to promote the destination, which includes partnering with some of its most lavish resorts.

With thirty years of experience, Virgin Holidays is part of the British business emporium Virgin Group. As part of its strategy to continue broadening its array of destinations, the holiday expert has looked over to Anguilla, a tiny and paradisiacal Caribbean island.

The British overseas territory has developed its tourism market throughout the years and has become a popular destination amongst travellers looking for a sun and sand getaway.

As many keen travellers look to visit the destination, Virgin Holidays has signed a new partnership with the Anguilla Tourism Board. This move is part of the company’s bid to expand its Caribbean product to include Anguilla and other smaller islands for the first time.

When discussing the benefits of this new partnership, Stephen Gilchrist, Destination Manager, Caribbean, Virgin Holidays, said:

“Virgin Holidays is thrilled to be able to offer holidaymakers the chance to experience the beautiful island of Anguilla. The addition of the island in our new Caribbean brochure shows our commitment to the region, and we can’t wait for people to enjoy the authentic Caribbean for themselves.”

The island was already connected to Virgin through its carrier Virgin Atlantic, which flies four times per week from London Gatwick (LGW) to Antigua. Providing various choices to get to the island is part of the new initiative and Virgin Trans Anguilla Air Services also offers scheduled flights between Antigua and Anguilla in under an hour.

Alternatively, and new from this week, Tradewind can now offer private air charters at any time between Anguilla and Antigua.

After signing the new agreement, Carolyn Brown, Anguilla Tourist Board director for UK and Scandinavia, stated:

“This is fantastic news for Anguilla, to have such a big tour operator launch a new programme to the Island just nine months on from Hurricane Irma; it just goes to show how far the Island has come in such a short time. We look forward to welcoming Virgin Holiday’s guests on Island throughout the coming months and years ahead.”

The new programme launched by Virgin Holidays launches with stylish accommodation at three very different properties in Anguilla - Carimar Beach Club, Frangipani and The Reef by CuisinArt. The first venue is a beachfront apartment hotel; the second, a boutique-style beach resort; and the third a luxury five-star beachfront resort.

Set on the white sandy beaches and turquoise blue waters of Meads Bay, Carimar Beach Club offers a number of spacious self-catering beachfront apartments which are ideal for couples and families alike. The resort has recently undergone a multi-million-dollar upgrade to its bathrooms and to restore its botanical gardens after the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma.

Further along the bay, Frangipani Beach Resort, a family run property, offers elegant boutique-style accommodation with just 19 stylish rooms and suites. The hotel’s on-site beach restaurant, Straw Hat, is a favourite with locals and visitors alike and has recently re-opened following a complete post-Irma re-build. The menu includes local specialities such as Red Snapper Crudo, Curried Goat and Grilled Anguilla Crayfish alongside international favourites.

Finally, on Merrywing Bay awaits the third property. The Reef by CuisinArt, a five-star beachfront luxury property, is one of the Island’s newest properties and features a vast range of facilities including a Spa at sister property CuisinArt, sunrise yoga and meditation classes, golf course and water sports. The venue features two restaurants, The Yacht Club and its beachside bar and eatery Breezes, a hot spot for sundowners.
