Virgin Atlantic announces the launch of three new ways to fly Economy

In a pioneering move that seeks to change the experience for passengers flying in Economy class, Virgin Atlantic has unveiled the launch of three new Economy tickets, allowing travellers to choose the option that best suits their needs and budget.

Virgin Atlantic is revolutionising the industry of long-haul travel by being the first airline to introduce a hand-baggage only Economy ticket that will allow passengers to make the most of cheaper fares, whilst also offering two more Economy options, the classic one and a new one that gives you a little extra in comfort and privileges. Regardless of which of these three passengers choose, everyone flying in Economy is guaranteed inclusive food and drink, in-flight entertainment and top-notch service.

According to a communique published in the airline’s official blog, Virgin Atlantic’s new trio of Economy options will be officially launched in Spring 2018 after a multi-billion pound investment in the cabin to adapt to the needs of the 21st-century traveller.

The new options to be soon introduced are “economy delight”, “economy classic” and “economy light”, each priced differently according to what they offer. The upgrade option would be economy delight where passengers would enjoy a 34-inch legroom seat, priority check-in and boarding as well as complimentary advanced seat assignment.

The standard option is economy classic, where passengers would enjoy the classic Virgin Atlantic economy services but now with free seat assignment (giving reassurance to families and groups that they will be able to sit together). The most basic of the trio and perhaps the most ground-breakingly significant of all is the new economy light, where passengers can enjoy the cheapest fares by forgoing checked baggage and travelling with hand luggage only. According to the official statement, this option would make travel more accessible and affordable for millennials and those going for short city breaks.

The airline’s famous founder, Sir Richard Branson also penned an article explaining the reasoning behind this new move as the airline sought to recognise that the approach of “one size fits all” no longer applied to today’s more discerning travellers. He went on to reinforce the idea that although a lot of airlines have started stripping back service in economy class during recent years, that’s not what Virgin Atlantic is about.

“People at the front of the plane are having a fantastic experience, and people at the back are not. We want everyone to have an amazing time.”

This is why, regardless of which of the three new economy options travellers choose, they can all still benefit from Virgin Atlantic’s signature Economy services like complimentary meals and drinks, in-flight entertainment, amenities like blanket, pillow and headphones and in-seat USB charger.

This is the most revolutionary move in long-haul travel and Virgin Atlantic, as usual, are at the forefront of innovation, giving fliers more choice than ever to adapt their budget and style without missing out on inclusive food and beverages, award-winning service and entertainment. To top it all of there’s even a new scent as part of the £300 million overhaul given to the airlines Economy cabin. The even more exciting news is that it’s all happening really soon, in just a month or so!
