Zest Hotels plans major expansion in Indonesia

Hotel management company Swiss-Belhotel International has announced plans to dramatically expand its budget Zest brand across Indonesia, potentially opening another 13 hotels in the country within the next three years and thus almost tripling its Indonesia portfolio.

Global hospitality group Swiss-Belhotel International has unveiled plans to almost triple its portfolio of Zest Hotels in Indonesia over the next few years. The company said it will potentially add a further 13 budget hotels to its existing collection of Zest hotels in Indonesia with new openings in the capital Jakarta, as well as key towns across the archipelago.

There are currently seven Zest Hotels across Indonesia, most of which are located in tourist spots on the island of Java in Jakarta, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Bandung and Bogor, as well as on the islands of Batam and Bali.

Within three years this collection is expected to reach 20 hotels, bringing Zest’s brand of "cool, comfortable, convenient and connected" hotels to Indonesia’s new generation of millennial travellers. As well as new hotels in Jakarta, the brand will make its debut in emerging regions such as Sulawesi, Kalimantan, Sumatera and North Maluku in key towns and cities such as Ambon, Solo, Timika, Manado and Jailolo.

Zest Hotels International’s CEO Emmanuel Guillard said:

“We see strong potential for the expansion of Zest Hotels across Indonesia. Tailored to young professionals and families, groups of friends and students, Zest Hotels is totally in tune with the modern millennial mindset. We now plan to reach a nationwide collection of 20 hotels by 2020, catering for guests in many exciting new destinations.”

He added:

“Looking further ahead, the emergence of Indonesia’s large and youthful population, the rapid growth of second and third tier cities, and enhanced low-cost air connectivity mean that the future opportunities for Zest Hotels are almost limitless. We look forward to introducing even more travellers to Zest’s cool concept in the years ahead.”

Zest Hotels are all situated in prime locations and feature an array of guest-friendly offerings, such as 24-hour room use, instant Wi-Fi connectivity, comfortable bedding and round-the-clock services.

The seven new hotels already in the pipeline will bring 768 new affordable hotel rooms to Indonesia, almost doubling the brand’s total nationwide inventory. This will contribute to the Indonesian government’s efforts to bring the benefits of tourism to even more parts of the country.

The rapid growth of Zest Hotels is being driven by an impressive operating performance, with total revenues surging 18.8 per cent in 2017 compared to the previous year, and the group’s operating profit jumping 21.3 per cent.
