Ryanair has announced that it will launch new flights to Jordan from European destinations this year. The Irish low-cost airline will offer a total of 14 routes from European airports to the cities of Amman and Aqaba in Jordan.

Starting in March 2018, Ryanair will launch its first flight to Amman in Jordan from Paphos in Cyprus. The operations of this destination will then increase to ten routes from Europe from October and will be part of its winter 2018 schedule.

Routes to Aqaba will then start in October and will include four options that will operate over the winter season. The new routes are part of the air carrier’s expansion plan in the Middle East, and it expects to bring more than 500,000 customers each year to the region.

Lina Mazhar Annab, Jordan’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and Chairwoman of the Jordan Tourism Board, stated:

“We are delighted to see Ryanair launch 14 new routes from Europe to Jordan. This is a significant development in Jordan’s travel industry that will offer travellers greater choice and value for money.”

Mrs Annab also explained:

“The timing of the launch of these new flights is ideal given the increased global interest in Jordan and its recent listing as one of the best destinations to visit in 2018 by numerous world-renowned travel and tourism publications.”

Amman is the capital of Jordan and is located in the north-central region of the country. The bustling city is home to historic and ancient sites and ruins. These include the Roman Theatre with its hillside amphitheatre and two museums, the Amman Citadel with ruins and the Jordan Archaeological Museum, the blue-doomed King Abdullah I Mosque, and the 8th-century Ummayad Palace. Travellers can also visit the Royal Automobile Museum, the Jordan Museum, and the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Art.

Aqaba is a port city that sits on the Red Sea's Gulf of Aqaba. Famous for its beautiful beaches and water sports, the city is a leading destination for scuba diving enthusiasts, and it boasts diving sites such as the thriving Yamanieh coral reef in the Aqaba Marine Park.

During their stay in the coastal city, tourists can go windsurfing, sailing, snorkelling, and take boat trips. The city’s attractions include the Aqaba Archaeological Museum, the Aqaba Fortress, and the Aqaba Flagpole, which is the sixth tallest free-standing flag pole in the world.
