Oman Air has added a new aircraft to its ever-expanding fleet which will operate on short and medium-haul routes. The new B737-800 will have economy and business class categories and a total of 162 passenger seats.

The aircraft launched with a flight last month between Seattle in the United States and Muscat, the capital of Oman. The airline currently has B737s aircraft in operations, and the aircraft has been used by Oman Air for shorter destinations for many years.

Abdulaziz Alraisi, the Executive Vice President of Products and Brand Development for Oman Air, stated:

“Oman Air is adding new aircraft to its fast growing fleet to keep up with the expansion programme.

“Known for its energy efficient systems, and combined with Oman Air’s superb maintenance staff and facilities, this is an ideal acquisition as we spread our wings to further afield.”

Oman now has a fleet of 51 aircraft, and it planning to add a further four aircraft by the end of this year. The airline added a Boeing 787 Dreamliner in February 2017, as well as two new 737-800s. This month, a new Dreamliner B787-9 will be joining the collection.

Officially founded in 1993, the airline is the national carrier of Oman, and it is based in the capital city of Muscat. The airline’s fleet includes an Airbus A330 which features the world’s first on board connectivity service, enabling passengers to make phone calls, send text messages and surf the internet during flights.

Oman Air offers routes to more than 50 destinations in 27 countries all over the world, and it also has codeshare agreements with airlines such as Emirates, Thai Airways, and KLM.

Travellers can fly direct from London Heathrow to Muscat in Oman via the daily service from Oman Air. This month, the airline will also launch direct daily flights between Manchester Airport and Oman’s capital.

Oman is becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination in the Middle East due to increased flight options and the addition of new hotels and accommodation options. In Muscat, holidaymakers can explore the city’s attractions such as theatres, shopping malls, the Royal Opera House, the Natural History Museum, and Muscat Gate Museum. Just off the coast off the city, the waters are crystal clear and provide the perfect conditions for snorkelling and scuba diving activities.
