Anantara Hotels and Resorts snags 26 Wine Spectator Awards

Anantara Hotels and Resorts was recently awarded 26 Wine Spectator Awards at the 2016 edition of the prestigious event. Anantara’s luxury resorts can be found in some of the world’s top holiday destinations and wine connoisseurs will likely sit up and take notice of the Thailand based hotel chain with no other hotel able to amass as many accolades.

Anantara Hotels and Resorts snags 26 Wine Spectator Awards

Thailand based hotel chain Anantara Hotels and Resorts has come way from the 2016 Wine Spectator Awards with an astonishing 26 awards. Anantara had the distinction of being the hotel brand to take away the most awards. Anantara’s Chief Wine Guru, Jirachai Sethisakko was on hand to discuss the significance of the accolades and stated:

“The Wine Spectator awards are known worldwide as a guide to the world’s best wines and we are honoured to be part of the Wine Spectator awards which recognises restaurants that show passion and commitment when it comes to wine”

This year, 11 Anantara resort restaurants in Thailand alone took home a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, this in addition to six restaurants in the UAE as well as others in destinations like Vietnam and Bali. The Award of Excellence recognizes those wine lists with at least 90 selections that showcase a wide range of high quality producers and combined, the selections must compliment each other in both price and style. Antantara Wine Spectator Award of Excellence winners included Baan Dhalia at Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort, The Service 1921 and The Restaurant at Anantara Chiang Mai Resort, Madison Restaurant at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel, Sea.Fire.Salt. at Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas as well as three of the Palm Dubai Resort’s restaurants namely Bushman’s, The Beach Hose and Mekong.

Additionally two restaurants at Anantara resorts in the Maldives took home the much coveted Best Award of Excellence- an award granted to those resort destinations that cater to the true wine connoisseur with one of the requirements being a wine list of at least 350 labels representing a broad cross-section of the world’s top wide producing regions.

Mr. Sethisakko explained:

“We research the latest trends and the most popular selections every year, and update our wine lists to ensure that we provide a wide variety of new and old world wines, offering guests quality and variety”

Anantara Hotels and Resorts launched its first hotel in Hua Hin Thailand back in 2001. Since then the hotel chain has gone from strength to strength with resorts in some of the world’s best loved holiday destinations including; Cambodia, Indonesia, the Maldives, Mozambique, Qatar, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam. Anantara is one of the brands under the umbrella of Minor International one of the largest hospitality groups in the Asia Pacific region.
