Grand Pineapple Antigua joins Elite Island Resorts

One of Antigua's longest-standing all-inclusive resorts, the Grand Pineapple, has switched ownership from the Sandals Resorts International brand to Elite Island Resorts, and will be run under the amended Pineapple Beach Club moniker.

Grand Pineapple Antigua joins Elite Island Resorts

The Grand Pineapple resort on the Caribbean island of Antigua has officially changed hands with Sandals Resorts International parting ways with the property that will now be owned and operated by Elite Island Resorts.

The all-inclusive Grand Pineapple resort has been renamed and rebranded as the Pineapple Beach Club.

The 180-room resort features traditional Caribbean colonial-style villas with wooden verandahs, bright colours and sloping roofs facing onto the white sweep of sand at Antigua's south-eastern Long Bay. It will join Elite Island Resorts existing portfolio of successful all-inclusive holiday resorts in Antigua that include the nearby Verandah Resort and Spa, St James Club and Villas, and Galley Bay.

According to Elite Island Resorts, the Grand Pineapple's staff, existing bookings and services will seamlessly transition to the new name and brand. Guests with bookings made for arrivals to the Grand Pineapple will be fully protected at the agreed upon rates by Elite Island Resorts and its sales team.

"We are very satisfied that our staff and loyal customers will be properly taken care of under the stewardship of Elite's chairman, Rob Barrett."

Explained Chair of Sandals Resorts International Gordon Stewart.

Meanwhile, Grand Pineapple Negril in Jamaica will remain part of the Sandals Resort International collection of resorts and will not be impacted by the sale. The Sandals brand retains its presence in Antigua with the Sandals Grande resort at Dickenson Bay on the west side of the island, which opened in 1991 as the first Sandals resort outside of Jamaica.

Sandals Resorts International is also planning to open a new resort under its Beaches brand in Antigua. The Beaches resort is slated to be built on the site of the Halcyon Cove hotel currently owned by Rex Resorts, situated just next door to the Sandals Grande on Dickenson Bay.
