St. Regis opens new luxury hotel in Macau

Starwood International's luxury brand, St Regis Hotels and Resorts, has announced the opening of a brand new hotel in Macau, the world's largest centre for gambling and casinos.

St. Regis Macao, Cotai Central has 400 guest rooms and suites where guests will have access to 24-hour personal butler service throughout their stay.

Accommodation ranges from 53 to 477 square metres, and there will be a range of facilities including a large dining outlet that will serve high end cuisine and bistro-style dining.

Guests can relax in the Iridium Spa where they can enjoy panoramic views of the famous Cotai Strip from the 38th floor, or take a dip in the outdoor pool that has 2,460 square metres of decking space and private cabanas.

The St. Regis bar will serve the brand's signature Bloody Mary cocktail with a local twist. The Maria do Leste (Mary of the East) will feature pink peppercorns, cinnamon and piri-piri spices to honour the area's Portuguese heritage.

The hotel complex on the Cotai Strip will have several family-friendly attractions including a Ferris wheel, a Batman-themes flight simulator, restaurants, bars, and luxury boutiques.

Famous for its gambling and casinos, Macau generates more revenue than Las Vegas in the United States, and the new hotel's opening follows the launch of Studio City, a US$3.2 billion casino and entertainment resort that opened in October 2016 and has attracted famous faces including Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Robert De Niro.

St. Regis Macao, Cotai Central is the hotel brand's seventh hotel to open in Greater China.

Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide owns and operates nearly 1,000 properties across North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. The hotel group currently operates hotels under the brands: Westin, Starwood's oldest and largest brand for upscale properties; W Hotels, the luxury boutique brand; Sheraton, the luxury flagship brand; the Luxury Collection; Four Points by Sheraton, a mid-scale brand; St. Regis, Starwood's main luxury brand; Le Meridian, a French brand acquired by Starwood in 2006; Aloft, a mid-scale urban brand for business and boutique hotels; and Element by Westin, the group's environmentally friendly brand.
