Morocco to host grand final of World Travel Awards for next three years
This 2014 World Travel Awards Grand Finals will be hosted by Morocco for the next three years after a deal was sighed with the Office National Marocain du Tourisme. This year's Grand Final ceremony for the prestigious awards will be hosted by the Palmerais Golf Palace in the bustling city of Marrakech.
Morocco will host the Grand Finals of the World Travel Awards from 2014 to 2016 after a deal was signed with the Office National Marocain du Tourisme.
The first of the Grand Final World Travel Awards ceremonies in Morocco will take place on 29th November, 2014 at the Palais de Congres, which is part of the Palmerais Golf Palace in Marrakech.
In 2015, the finals will take place in Fez, and Casablanca will host the 2016 awards ceremony. Graham Cooke, the President of the World Travel Awards, commented:
"Preparations for the World Travel Awards Grand Final 2014 are now taking shape, with the Palmerais Golf Palace selected to host the exclusive event. One of the iconic hotels in Marrakech, the property is the beating heart of Moroccan tourism and an ideal host."
Hailed as the "Oscars of the travel industry" by the global media, the World Travel Awards honour the destinations, hotels and organisations that have largely contributed to the world's travel, tourism and hospitality sector over the past 12 months.
Regional Gala Ceremonies will take place throughout 2014 in Athens, Abuja, New Delhi and Anguilla. Mr Cooke added:
"Today we are also revealing that Fez will be honoured with hosting rights for the 2015 Grand Final, while we will be headed to Casablanca the following year for the 2016 Grand Final. With Moroccan tourism presently benefiting from a secure political environment, visionary political leadership and high-levels of private investment, World Travel Awards is looking forward to showcasing the best of Morocco over this three year period."
Morocco is a country in North Africa located south of Spain with a coastline that spreads across both the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. While enjoying Morocco, tourists can explore the medieval city of Fez; the movie-famous city of Casablanca that is home to Morocco's largest mosque, The King Hassan II; and the traditional souks, spice markets and historical ruins in Marrakech.
"Over the last decade, Morocco has become a major North African tourist destination, it aims to be among the top 20 destinations worldwide by the year 2020. To host the next three editions of the World Travel Awards Grand Final in Marrakech, Fez and Casablanca, is a great opportunity for the Kingdom to promote these historical destinations, and further enhance their visibility in a global scale."
Ccommented Dr. Lahcen Haddad, the Moroccan Minister of Tourism.
