Double win for Oman Air at 2014 World Travel Awards

Oman's national airline has been honoured with two awards at the 2014 World Travel Awards during a ceremony which was held at the JW Marriot Marquis Dubai earlier this month.

Oman Air won awards in two categories at the ceremony: 'Middle East's Leading Airline – Business Class' and 'Middle East's Leading Airline – Economy Class'.

This is the second year that the airline has won the title for the Middle East's Leading Airline – Economy Class' and it recently received a Gold Award for the fourth consecutive year at the TravelPlus Airline Amenity Bag Awards. Salim Al Kindy, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of Oman Air, commented:

"Winning two categories of the prestigious World Travel Awards is a remarkable achievement for Oman Air, especially when we were pitted against some of the world's largest airlines. Our Business Class and Economy Class services were both recognised and the awards are testament not only to the outstanding quality of our onboard products, but also to the extremely high standard of hospitality offered by our highly trained flight attendants."

The World Travel Awards- famously known as the "Oscars of the travel industry" - were launched in 1993 to acknowledge and recognise excellence in the global travel and tourism industry. Votes are carried out by members of the world's travel, tourism and hospitality industry. Al Kindy added:

"It is particularly satisfying that these awards were voted for by travel trade representatives and high end travel consumers – true experts in their field. I would therefore like to thank everyone who voted for Oman Air, as well as all those staff throughout our global network, who have ensured that Oman Air continues to offer the very best in 21st Century air travel."

Oman Air is expanding its fleet and it has 20 aircraft on order, including three Airbus A330s, six Boeing B787 Dreamliners, and 11 Boeing B737s.

The Sultanate of Oman offers a myriad of stunning landscapes for tourists, including sweeping sandy beaches and huge sand dunes, majestic mountain ranges, crystal clear turquoise ocean waters and rugged coastline.

The country's capital, Muscat, is home to sandy beaches and historic sites and tourist attractions such as the Al Jalali Fort and Al Mirani forts, Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace, Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the Bait az-Zubair Museum and the Qurum National Park.
