Cayman Islands Southern Cross Club takes home World Travel Awards Leading Boutique Resort award
The Southern Cross Club Boutique hotel in the Cayman Islands has been named the leading Boutique Resort in 2013 World Travel Awards. This is the second consecutive year in which the Little Cayman resort has been awarded the title consolidating its position as one the leading Resorts in the Caribbean region.
The World Travel Awards has long been recognized as the Oscars of the tourism industry with the world's leading hotels and resorts all vying for one of the coveted awards.
The Cayman Islands' boutique beach resort South Cross Club is one hotel that has had the distinction of taking the top spot in a World Travel Awards category in two consecutive years.
This hotel has been named the "Leading Boutique Resort" for 2013. In addition to wining this award in 2012, Southern Cross Club has been nominated in this category from 2008 straight through to 2011- quite the achievement for the Little Cayman hotel.
In a recent interview with Cayman Net News, Ms Jennifer Mills, the General Manager of Southern Cross Club underscored the importance of the achievement to her hotel and its reputation as one of the leading resorts in the Caribbean saying:
"We are all thrilled at Southern Cross Club to receive our World Travel Award for Leading Boutique Resort in Cayman. This is one of the highest awards any individual or operator can aspire to within tourism. For the resort to be decorated, over the other leading nominees in this category, is an honour. We are very proud for the resort to receive this prestigious award for the second year in a row, which is an excellent indication that Southern Cross is maintaining its reputation for a high level of customer service and providing guests with an exceptional experience, which keeps them returning year after year".
The international exposure that the Southern Cross Club has received from its success at the 2013 World Travel Awards is likely to go a long way in enticing travellers to make the Cayman Islands their Caribbean holiday destination of choice.
The Cayman Islands' Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism Hon Moses Kirkconnell extended his congratulations to the Southern Cross Club noting that the resorts achievement was made all the more impressive in light of the constraints of the current "austere times".
The Cayman Islands is comprised of three islands: Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. Together these islands have become one of the leading holiday destinations for those travellers seeking a bit of sun, sea and sand.
Currently, the Cayman Islands is one of 10 Caribbean holiday destinations to experience growth in tourist arrivals that is faster than the world average of 5.2 per cent- a trend that is in part thanks to the efforts of resorts like the Southern Cross Club.
