Grand Lucayan severs ties with Radisson and joins the list of independent Bahamas resorts

The Grand Lucayan resort in the Bahamas has recently announced its decision to bring its affiliation with the international renowned Radisson hotel group to an end. The decision has been reportedly made as part of the Grand Lucayan hotel’s growth strategy.

Management at the Grand Lucayan are hoping to develop the resort’s brand independently in an effort to become one of the premier Bahamas resorts for those travellers booking their Bahamas holidays in the island of Grand Bahama.

Benjamin Davis the General Manager of the Grand Lucayan, Bahamas stated the following of his hotel’s new direction and the former partnership with Radisson, “We’re appreciative of the strong relationship and success we have enjoyed with Radisson, but feel we can best expand on the growth potential of Grand Lucayan as an independent property”.

The recent decision is the culmination of months of hard work with the hotel undergoing an image over haul from as early as 2011 changing its name from “Our Lucaya” to the “Grand Lucayan”. The name change signalled a shift from being the every day hotel to one that currently provides a truly luxurious experience for travellers on their holidays in the Bahamas. Management at the Grand Lucayan are now hoping that the change to being an independently operated hotel will continue to build on the momentum first generated at the time of the renaming. “Our switch to the name Grand Lucayan last year was a symbolic step in the process that has culminated in this move, as we further establish the resort as a truly "grand" experience on the island of Grand Bahama” noted Mr. Davis.

As part of the Grand experience, one of the first decisions made by the newly independent resort is to reopen the Lanai Suites. These 23 plush suites, will now increase the hotel’s capacity to 542 rooms and more importantly they now serve as§ ideal accommodation option for those holidaymakers who plan to pamper themselves a bit with a truly luxurious Bahamas holidays experience.

Additionally, the Grand Lucayan has stepped us fine dining options with the newly refurbished Churchill’s restaurant. The menu at Churchill’s has also been upgraded with new food and beverage specials.
