Mid-Market Abu Dhabi Holiday Inn set to see double-digit growth in 2011

Despite a recent increase in new five-star Abu Dhabi hotels, the InterContinental Hotel Group's Holiday Inn branded property in the United Arab Emirates city is seeing significant profits which is helping the property achieve double digit revenue growth.

The Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi is expected to achieve double digit revenue growth this year as it competes against an expanding market of five-star Abu Dhabi hotels.

The new look Holiday Inn brand and its four-star mid-market status are just a couple of reasons why this hotel is expected to see a growth in revenue and occupancy levels this year.

One of the newest mid-market Abu Dhabi hotels, Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi opened at the end of 2009 and is still continuing to target an under-supplied affordable market category.

General Manager of the Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi hotel, Sid Sattanathan said: "We are happy to be in the mid-market. We are budgeting double-digit growth in total revenues."

In December 2010, occupancy levels at the property reached 76.5 per cent with the daily rate averaging at Dh574.46. Holiday Inn is owned by the largest hotel company in the world, InterContinental Hotels Group, which is based in the United Kingdom. The group also owns the brand Crowne Plaza which operates luxury hotels all over the world.

The Holiday Inn brand operates 3,400 properties across the world and accommodates 100 million guests each year. The brand was recently revamped with a US$1 billion makeover to make it more up to date with today's travel sector.

Many aspects of the brand were changed or upgraded, from the logo and room amenities to the music which plays in the lobby and the new special scent which is now used at all of the Holiday Inn hotels.

"Most of the Holiday Inns have been refreshed with new brand hallmarks," Mr Sattanathan explained. "Our hotel, being a new hotel, was opened with all these new hallmarks in place. It gives the hotel a more vibrant, young, modern look."

Mr Sattanathan added that more travellers were booking Abu Dhabi holidays because of the expansion of Etihad Airways and the increase in sports, entertainment and exhibitions in the city.

The Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi works hard to look after its staff members and employees can enjoy games on the staff basketball court and an exclusive restaurant with varied menu.
