Begin your trip in Cape Town, the "Mother City", South Africa's oldest city, and one of the world's most beautiful. Situated at the south-western tip of South Africa and the African continent, it is the city of Table Mountain, Robben Island, the beautiful Kirstenbosch Gardens, and the spectacular Cape Point. But aside from its natural assets, the Cape Peninsula is home to colourful characters from a cross-section of cultures.
Take the chance to visit the Cango Caves at Oudtshoorn as well as the Ostrich farms followed by a wine routes encompassing Klein Karoo amongst other stops.
Thereafter you can discover The Garden Route, a coastal corridor, a landscape of restorative beauty. Also take the opportunity to uncover Plettenberg Bay, a beautiful beach village which has gained somewhat of a reputation as a pleasure seeker hotspot and has many leisure activities on offer.
Further north-east is Addo Elephant National Park, the third largest national park in South Africa. This park offers some of the most spectacular elephant viewing in the world.

Day 1 - Arrival in Cape Town
After your arrival into Cape Town International Airport, you will be greeted by our local representative and transferred to your hotel in Cape Town where you will spend the rest of the day at your own leisure. During the first 3 days of this tour you will be making discoveries at your pace, with plenty of free time available for independent sightseeing and strolling around Cape Town on your own.

Day 2 & 3 - Cape Town & Cape Peninsula
On these two additional days at your own leisure, we suggest you make the most of your visit and explore Cape Town, also known as the "Mother City". Take in the glorious vies of the famous V&A Waterfront, where you can enjoy the buzz of the working harbour, world class restaurants, shopping and so much more. Explore Cape Town attractions at your own pace on a Hop-On Hop-Off Sightseeing Tour. Conducted aboard a fire engine-red, double-decker bus, the open-air guided tours traverse the city centre and beyond, both orienting newbies and re-introducing even seasoned tourists and locals to Cape Town's most-loved highlights. The two main scenic routes - there's a heritage-rich city centre route (red route) and a breathtakingly beautiful minipeninsula route (blue route) - include 17 stops, and riders are free to hop off the open-top bus at each stopping point to explore attractions at their own pace. Depending on the circuit, buses arrive at each stop every 20 to 35 minutes, so once you've taken in the view from Table Mountain, had your fill of beautiful people on Camps Bay
beach or tasted some of the outstanding wines in the Constantia Valley, you can simply board the bus again and carry on to your next destination. There are various day tours available in Cape Town and we suggest spending one of your free days by going on the full day Cape Peninsula Tour, where you will be driven along the Atlantic seaboard via Hout Bay, to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and its scenic viewing point. You will then stop at Boulders Beach to see the African penguins, and then travel through the naval port of Simon's Town. Simon's Town is situated on False Bay and is rich in history, character and atmosphere.
Day 4 - Cape Town to Oudtshoorn / Garden Route
After an early breakfast you can go to collect your rental car at the Avis Cape Town Downtown depot. Thereafter you begin your self-drive tour travelling to the world renowned Garden Route, one of the most popular tourist destinations in South Africa. Covering a great part of the south-western coast of South Africa, the Garden Route stretches from Mossel Bay to the Tsitsikamma Forest and Storms River. The Garden Route is a coastal corridor along the highway N2, where ancient forests, rivers, wetlands, dunes, stretches of beach, lakes, mountain scenery and indigenous fynbos all merge to form a landscape of restorative beauty. A spectacular scenery, a wide range of leisure options and a mild climate guarantee make up for today's long driving distance. By late afternoon you will arrive at Plettenberg Bay, a beautiful beach village which has gained somewhat of a reputation as a pleasure seeker hotspot and has many leisure activities on offer. "Plett" - as South Africans simply call this exclusive seaside resort - boasts the most beautiful beaches of the Garden Route. They stretch over many kilometres all around the bay. The watersport possibilities are plentiful and in season the bay it is an excellent place to watch whales and dolphins.
You will spend 2 nights in Plettenberg Bay.

Day 4 & 5 - Garden Route
Spend this day at your own leisure exploring the highlights along the Garden Route or simply relax on the beach. Plettenberg Bay and its neighbour town Knysna offer some of the world's best golf courses, hiking trails on Robberg Peninsula or Knysna Forest, boat cruises on Knysna lagoon, kayaking, township tours, whale and dolphin boat tours and so much more. Suggestion: A short drive from Plettenberg Bay is the area known as "The Crags" and there you will find Monkeyland, where you can go on a monkey safari, The Elephant Sanctuary, where you can experience these giants up close, Birds of Eden, where you can take a walk in the world's largest outdoor aviary, the Snake Park, where you can visit with the cold blooded kind, Bramon Wine Estate, the most south-eastern vinery in the country and much more.
Day 6 - Plettenberg Bay to Cape St Francis
Today your journey takes you further east from the Garden Route to South Africa's Eastern Cape Province. The Eastern Cape is a place of rugged beauty offering a pristine coastline, virgin bush, sub-tropical forests and is the home of Africa's "Big Five" and the birthplace of Nelson Mandela. En-route to your next destination we suggest a visit of the Tsitsikamma National Park, a coastal forest where you can enjoy a short hike and find an almost untouched natural landscape. Some indigenous Yellowwood trees still exist here, some over 800 years old. Besides the diverse birdlife, one can also observe smaller mammal species, the cute dassies for example, which often graze near the beach. The more adventurous travellers have the opportunity to experience the Tsitsikamma Forest on a nerve-racking tree-top canopy tour. Travellers looking for
the ultimate adrenaline kick can jump off Bloukrans Bridge, reputed to be the highest commercial bungi in the world at 216 metres.
Proceed travelling to your overnight accommodation in Cape St Francis, a tranquil eco-destination, surrounded by nature reserves and a glorious beach, waiting to be explored - situated just south of St Francis Bay.

Day 9 - Kariega Game Reserve to Oudtshoorn / Klein Karoo
Today's journey takes you through parts of the Great Karoo back to the Western Cape Province. Enjoy travelling through the tranquil Langkloof Valley, the second largest fruit production area in South Africa specialising in apples and pears, surrounded by picturesque mountain ranges. In the afternoon you will arrive in Oudtshoorn, known as the ostrich capital of the world and situated in the Klein Karoo between the Swartberg and Outeniqua mountains. The world's biggest bird is just one of the many attractions in this area of exceptional contrasts and natural beauty. The region is home to the spectacular Cango Caves - Africa's largest show cave system - and the Swartberg Mountain range, which is part of the Cape Floral World Heritage Site.

Day 10 - Oudtshoorn and surrounding / Klein Karoo
Spend the day at your own leisure visiting the Cango Caves and one of the Show-Ostrich Farms, where you will learn everything worth knowing about ostriches. At the end, the daring visitor may go for a ride on the obstinate birds and make a bet on who might win the ostrich race. A must-do for nature lovers is a day excursion into the Swartberg Mountains.
Day 11 & 12 - Oudtshoorn to Stellenbosch / Cape Winelands
Today's journey takes you along the breath-taking Route 62 to the Cape Winelands. The Route 62, modelled after the iconic US Route 66, is one of the most beautiful travel routes in South Africa as well as one of the least known and least travelled ones. The scenic country route meanders through the fertile valleys of the Klein Karoo, past rugged rock formations, the tops of which are covered in snow in winter. Time and again the road leads over steep passes, which open up to spectacular views of the wide land. Route 62 leads through the wine-growing areas of Wellington, Tulbagh, Worcester, Robertson and the Klein Karoo and is thus one of the longest wine routes in the world. Robertson is your ideal stop to visit one of the beautiful wine estates or stop for a late lunch.
By late afternoon you will arrive in the Cape Winelands, origin of some of the world's most popular wines and a destination of ultimate indulgence and relaxation just north of Cape Town. The fertile green valleys of the Cape Winelands are surrounded by stunning mountain ranges that provide a breath-taking view. With hundreds of wine farms to discover and wines to taste, award-winning restaurants on every corner and wonderful scenery, the Cape Winelands is South Africa's equivalent of Provence in southern France. Enjoy the last night of your South Africa journey at a guest house in the beautiful and historic town of Stellenbosch the second oldest European settlement after Cape Town.

Day 13 - Depart Stellenbosch
Before departing towards the airport, enjoy the day exploring the heart of the Cape Winelands. Don't miss out on visiting one of the numerous Wine Estates in this area! At Cape Town International Airport you return your hired car and proceed to the check-in counters for your outbound flight back to London.
