Getting Around

Koh Samui is a fairly compact island with only a few main roads. Getting around on foot is usually your best option for sightseeing. Hiring a motorbike is popular with many tourists and makes navigating around Koh Samui relatively fuss free.

When to Visit


December to March are the best times to visit Koh Samui when the relatively cooler temperatures are less stifling, there is little chance of rain and you will enjoy 8 hours of sun. October and November represent the rainy season but with temperatures reaching upwards of 30°C even during the fresher months, you can confidently book flights to Koh Samui for most times of the year.

Shopping in Koh Samui


The large Central Festival Samui shopping centre is Koh Samui’s best shopping location, filled with countless options from designer labels to brilliant bargains as good as anything you’ll find in Bangkok. Lamai Walking Street is also recommended with its aromatic street food options, handmade gifts and clothing, while Lamai Night Plaza is a great way to experience one of Koh Samui’s captivating Night Markets.

Not only is Koh Samui home to some of Thailand’s most delectable renditions of its famed cuisine, it also offers a fine setting in which to savour it.
