Ajman Holidays

Palm-lined empty beaches and a picturesque city where authentic Middle Eastern living comes to life in the smallest of emirates

The tiniest of all seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates, Ajman might be on the small side sizewise but it's certainly not the poorest in terms of what it has to offer the inquisitive traveller. Most might come across it just out of sheer curiosity, and holidaymakers staying in nearby Sharjah or Dubai might pass it without noticing its unpolished beauty, but this unassuming and laidback emirate has more than meets the eye. Ajman has seen a development boom in recent years and new initiatives and construction projects promise to put the emirate on the map.

Introducing Ajman

Bask in the uncrowded palm-lined beaches, enjoy a lovely picnic under the shade of picturesque palm trees or explore the local history by visiting the Ajman Museum, housed in an 18th century fort and displaying an array of artifacts. Ajman is most famous for its beach where dolphin spotting is a major attraction as well as swimming in its crystalline waters. There's not a lot to do here besides absorbing the local culture and serene pace of life but for something different, you should see it now in its raw state and admire its calm, subdued charm before it becomes over-developed like its glitzy neighbours, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Discover the fifth most populated city in the UAE

Bordered by sister emirate Sharjah on all sides, except for the west, where Ajman land meets the ocean, this tiny emirate might easily be overlooked by many because of its reduced area but in fact it is home to one of the UAE's most populated cities.

The city of Ajman is not only where you'll find 95 per cent of the population but also where all the attractions are concentrated. The most prominent of these is the Ajman Museum, an impressive castle-like construction dating back to the 1700s and housing a formidable collection of antiques and archaeological artefacts that make the emirate's history come to life.

Walking around town is extremely easy, especially due to the quaint size of the city. Head to The Corniche waterfront area (also called Al Khaleej Road or Arabian Gulf Street) to spot locals going for an evening promenade, while you'll find many shops and restaurants surrounding the city's central square.

Let your children have some fun in theme parks

While considerably smaller than those found at big destinations like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Ajman has a few places to entertain the little ones. Such is the case for the Magic Planet at the Ajman City Center, a place where the younger ones in the family can frolic around and make the most of the play areas, from the . Quite conveniently, adjacent to this park you'll find a food court so that you can order your food while the kids enjoy the rides.

Another great place to take the kids if you find yourself in Ajman is the Fun City Safeer Mall with an arcade area full of fun video games, a soft play area with ball pits, slides and bouncy rides. This mall is great for kids and teenagers of all ages and there are great educative options, outdoor playgrounds as well as indoor areas with activities that the eldest of your children will enjoy.

Don't miss the chance to soak up the sun in Ajman beach

The beach in Ajman is truly glorious and shouldn't be missed, in fact it's almost impossible to miss it, with kilometre upon kilometre of beautiful coastline. The powdery soft sands of Amman beach are as inviting as its waters are crystalline and while you might not find too much activity going on here, this is actually the true beauty of this place – the fact that is nicely secluded and uncrowded, unlike the manmade beaches of Dubai or the sometimes over-commercialised beaches of Abu Dhabi (most of which you can only access through a hotel anyway).

Yes, there isn't much to do here beside lounging in the sand, topping up your suntan, snorkelling or going for a swim...but with such an immaculate natural beauty before your eyes why would you want more?

Stay in the private luxury of the Kempinski resort

The most celebrated of hotels in Ajman, the most famous and the most complete is undoubtedly the Kempinski Hotel and Resort, boasting its very own private section of lovely beach and ideally located close to many of the emirate's attractions. You'll be in a world of your own with wonderful facilities to make your stay one to remember.
