Shangri-La Al Husn re-opens as a private retreat

During a recent ceremony, the Al Husn Resort & Spa relaunched as a separate resort after splitting from the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa, of which it was a part of until now. The glitzy launch ceremony was attended by important members of the region's tourism industry and introduced attendants to the new luxury hideaway, providing an intimate experience for discerning guests seeking superior comforts in a peaceful environment.

Shangri-La Al Husn re-opens as a private retreat

In a radical move to re-brand and reposition itself in the high-end luxury market, the recently renamed Al Husn Resort & Spa hosted a ceremony to relaunch its property as a separate entity from the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa, which it used to belong to.

The stunning cliff-top resort will now offer a more exclusive experience to guests seeking the ultimate privacy with added peace and quiet in an ultra-luxurious environment. With highly-personalised service, the refreshed property will offer upgraded rooms, dining spaces and wellness facilities, just in time for Muscat’s peak season. According to the hotel’s general manager, the timing of the re-branding and re-launch was strategically calculated to promote Muscat as a top luxury destination in the midst of the busiest time of the year.

In his words, Milan Drager, declared:

“With the dedicated support of our owners, we are elevating Omani and Asian hospitality to a new level of sophistication within an exclusive social setting for sophisticated travellers.”

Beautifully placed in a city famous for its scenic dunes and rich cultural and historical heritage, the Shangri-La Al Husn was designed to copy the traditional architecture of Omani forts. This is evident in the courtyard’s features, the style of the arches, the shape of the water installations and the abundance of palm trees. The idea is for guests to fully immerse in the destination and be part of it whilst surrounded by superior Moorish luxury in the style of Spain’s jaw-dropping “La Alhambra” palace. There’s also the added bonus of having the sea as the most panoramic backdrop.

Al Husn translates as “castle” in Arabic, and as such guests can look forward to being greeted as members of a royal family, by doormen clad in traditional Omani attire and a welcome drink of sparkling date juice and scented hand towels. To further ease them into the luxurious experience, tea service is offered in-room shortly after check-in.

Aiming to offer unrivalled, bespoke service in every aspect of guests’ stay, the resort’s team of specialists will be fully dedicated to creating unique cultural experiences with the implementation of personalised itineraries, arranged prior to guests’ arrivals and adapted to their particular interests until the day they leave. A tailor-made experience from start to end.
