Silversands Grenada Hotel Opening delayed until Summer 2018

The opening of the Silversands Grenada has been postponed, because the resort is still under construction. The luxury property was due to open to guests this spring, but it will now have a soft launch in the summer, according to Jorge Collazo, the Director of Sales and Marketing.

Located on the idyllic Grande Anse Beach on the island of Grenada, the resort will have 43 suites and nine residential villas that offer views of the beach and turquoise sea. Once open, the hotel will have a three-month season of previews.

Silversands Grenada is the first property to be built on the famous Grande Anse Beach for more than 25 years. The property will feature minimalist design in a project led by the French design house AW2. The design company will create an authentic space with contemporary design, and the island’s tropical landscapes will be incorporated into the decor and furnishings.

The beachfront hotel will be spread across two main buildings off Grand Anse Beach. It will have 39 Open Plan Suites, three One-Bedroom Suites, and a spacious Penthouse that will span 192 square meters. There will also be nine residential villas, including five airy Beachfront Villas that will offer direct access onto the beach, as well as four three-bedroom Hillside Villas with views of the tropical gardens and ocean.

Facilities at the upscale property include two gourmet restaurants and a chic spa with four treatment rooms, a sauna, hammam, pool and fitness centre. The hotel will also boast a 300-foot-long infinity pool, the longest in the Caribbean.

The resort will also be heavily involved with supporting the local community and culture. It will partner with the Grenada Network of Rural Women Producers (GRENROP) to source most of its fruits and vegetables which will be used in its restaurants. This monthly purchase will help provide financial stability for the women.

The island of Grenada is famously known as Spice Island because of its history as one of the Caribbean’s leading spice producers. Over the decades, the island has produced cinnamon, cloves, ginger, mace, wild coffee, nutmeg and organic cocoa, which are exported to countries all over the world.

During their stay on the tropical island, holidaymakers can relax on white sand beaches, go snorkelling or scuba diving in the turquoise sea, or visit the country’s fascinating attractions. These include the island's highest peak, Mount St. Catherine, the Grand Etang Nature Reserve with its azure crater lake, the Seven Sister Waterfalls, the tropical Bay Gardens, and the Underwater Sculpture Park.
