The Telegraph: new beach resort at Desroches Island to become a Seychelles favourite
John O'Ceallaigh, reporter for the Telegraph, recently shared his experience in Seychelles' newest luxury beach resort. Set in the secluded island of Mahe, the Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island tempts tourists with unbeatable surroundings ideal for scuba diving and lavish interiors. According to O'Ceallaigh, the resort could become one of the destination's favourites soon.
The Seychelles recently welcomed a brand new beach resort that is set to keep travellers flying in to enjoy its luxury, stunning landscapes and laid-back island vibes. On 24th March, the same date that celebrates the first direct flight between London and Victoria, the Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island opened its doors to the public. This new lavish property was reviewed by John O'Ceallaigh, report from The Telegraph, who was keen to shed light on his experience and the hotel’s most amazing and enjoyable features.
Only a 35-minute flight southwest of the main Seychelles island of Mahe, Desroches Island is a low-lying stretch of coral, lush with vegetation and sparsely populated. This tiny, secluded island is enveloped by spectacular dive sites offering its guests effortless access to the surrounding waters, and from its Castaway Centre scuba diving, stand-up paddleboarding and ocean fishing can all be arranged. The island’s animal sanctuary cares for 150 Aldabra tortoises; whilst a Creole village provides an insight into the Seychellois way of life. The Four Seasons property is the island’s only resort to the date.
According to O'Ceallaigh, the new property caters to all kinds of travellers, especially to those with a passion for nature. All guests are allocated a bicycle during their stay, providing a perfect opportunity to explore Desroches’ trails at leisure and nature walks can be led by a member of the Island Conservation Society. The little ones can also keep busy at the children’s club which provides activities for everyone aged four to 12 and a Teen Centre also provides games console and DVD library. On some occasions, outdoor film screenings take place on balmy evenings.
Further relaxation is also an option within the Four Seasons spa. Comprising its very own anti-gravity yoga pavilion, this facility offers a wide range of rejuvenating treatments including massages, facials and hydrotherapy. As for dining options, O'Ceallaigh recommended trying delicious Mediterranean Riviera cuisine at Claudine restaurant or a refined dish of Sashimi at The Lighthouse.
Finally, the Four Seasons Seychelles at Desroches Island is the ultimate place to unwind with 71 opulent accommodations that range from rustic-style suites to bungalows to residences; all of which are complete with private pool, beach access and a beautiful private garden for enhanced intimacy. In O'Ceallaigh’s opinion, the new resort will rival with other amazing properties in the Indian Ocean and could soon become a favourite amongst British travellers.
