LUX* Grand Gaube reopens in Mauritius following transformation by interior designer Kelly Hoppen
The redesigned LUX* Grand Gaube on the north coast of Mauritius has been unveiled by its designers. British interior designer Kelly Hoppen and Jean-Francois Adam, a Mauritian architect have transformed the luxury resort which has 186 guest rooms, suites and villas. The property's facilities include six restaurants, seven bars, swimming pools, the Wellness Area, a fitness centre, a private 60 seat cinema, and Kids' and Teens Clubs.
Dragon Den’s Kelly Hoppen and Mauritian architect Jean-Francois Adam have revealed the redesigned LUX* Grand Gaube resort in Mauritius. Hoppen is a British interior designer and investor on the BBC series Dragon’s Den, and she has redesigned a number of properties on the island.
LUX* Grand Gaube sits on the northern coast of Mauritius and reopened to guests last month following extensive refurbishments. The luxury retreat has 186 guest rooms, including 89 lavish suites and villas that feature airy verandas, some with outdoor baths or sundecks, and views overlooking the sea and a secluded cove.
Accommodation features include LUX* Sleeptight mattresses, high quality Egyptian cotton linens, naturally lit living areas, and bathrooms with reclaimed bespoke Victorian bath tubs. The airy, contemporary décor is highlighted with homely accents such as succulents in ceramic pots, handwoven African baskets, wicker tables and smooth floors.
The upscale resort boast two white sandy beaches, three swimming pools, the PLAY kids club with supervised fun activities, a teen’s club, an outdoor cinema, and a water sports centre with fun motorised and non-motorised activities For health and wellness, there’s a state-of-the-art fitness centre with personal trainers, the Tennis Academy with floodlit courts and Paddle Tennis Court, a golf driving range, and the LUX* Me Spa with 11 treatment rooms, three pools, a steam room, sauna, the Murdock barber shop, Kérastase hairdressing salon, an Essie nail station, and yoga and meditation classes.
For gourmet dining and premium drinks, the LUX* Grand Gaube has six restaurants and seven bars that service diverse cuisine. These include Palm Court with live cooking stations, with Mediterranean tapas, rotisseries, a bakery, a bespoke dessert bar, and a cocktail bar; Inti with Peruvian and Argentine cuisine, Latin American music, Hot Salsa’ open grill kitchen, and "Ceviche, Tiradito & Pisco bar"; and the Bodrum Blue, a Turkish restaurant that sits on its own mini peninsula and serves authentic Turkish dishes, from mezzes to kebabs. There’s also the Under the Banyan adults-only area with three dining venues and bars including the Rum Treehouse, Creole Smokehouse, and the French Kiss Bar.
The beachfront resort features art work from the London-based French artist Camille Walala, who has added vibrant pop art to Beach Rouge. The French street-artist, Jace has hand-painted unique Gouzou graffitis around the resort.
