W Hotels Worldwide has announced the launch of its first hotel in Central America. The W Panama sits within the 50-floor Evolution Tower skyscraper on Calle 50 in Panama City.
Located in the bustling business district of Panama City, the new hotel has 203 guest rooms and suites with views overlooking the bay and Panama Canal.
The design of the hotel blends the city’s past with its present and was created by Studio Gaia. It features colourful indigenous patterns, and textural contrasts throughout its accommodation and facilities.
Anthony Ingham, the Global brand leader of W Hotels Worldwide, explained:
“Panama City is one of the most vibrant and dynamic cities in Central America, a fusion of new and old, east and west, business and hedonism,” “Like our guests, W Hotels seeks destinations that are inspiring and multi-dimensional so Panama City is a natural fit.”
Mr Ingham also added:
“W Panama embodies the spirit of Panama, showing off the style and energy of this diverse global hub with an intricate design that pays homage to both the history of the region and its bright future.”
Guests will enter W Panama on the 15th floor of the unique skyscraper. The building has an unusual industrial look of shipping containers, which is like those located along the Panama Canal. The hotel features original graffiti painted by Diablos Rojos-inspired artist, Oscar Melgar.

Rooms feature wireless Internet, 50-inch LCD flat screen TVs, plug-and-play docking stations, Nespresso machines, W Mix Bars, and one king-size or two queen W signature beds. The Fabulous Rooms boast private balconies, while Marvellous Suites have whirlpools.

Dining options include Moro with its open kitchen and home cooking, the food truck-style "La Cajita" with grab-and-go options, rum and craft beer, Cargo with cocktails and live DJ, and the Living Room which sits in a graffiti-wrapped shipping container and has cocktails and a life DJ.
