The Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf and Beach Resort has officially reopened to guests following an extensive renovation project. The luxury hotel underwent a multi-million-dollar refurbishment programme to upgrade its public areas and facilities.

The hotel, which sits on a beachfront just outside of Puerto Rico’s capital San Juan, is one of the island’s most popular resorts. The lobby has been refreshed, and the Tiki Hut and Barista Café have been renovated. A brand new “Caicu Rum Bar” has also been added, and focuses on special rum cocktails with a selection of rare private reserve rums. The hotel’s gourmet Marbella restaurant also underwent a $1.2 million makeover.

Nils Stolzlechner, the General Manager of Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Golf & Beach Resort, commented:

“It brings me great pleasure to see guests basking under the Puerto Rican sun once again. I love hearing the buzz around our new Caicu rum bar, the renovated Marbella restaurant, and watching guests enjoy all of the refreshed spaces on the property.”

Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf and Beach Resort is located on a stretch of sandy beach opposite the border of the El Yunque Rainforest. The family-friendly hotel has 400 guest rooms, including 40 oversized suites. Guests can enjoy private balconies with view so the El Yunque Rainforest or the sparkling Atlantic Ocean. In-room amenities include flat-screen TVs with cable channels, complimentary wireless internet, coffee makers, in-room safes and mini-fridges.

During their stay, guests will have access to an array of upscale facilities. These include tennis courts, lagoon-style swimming pools, kids’ clubs, a casino, and the 7,000-square-foot Mandara Spa with 11 tranquil treatment rooms, a sauna, steam rooms, fitness centres, and a hair and beauty salon. The resort also boasts two 18-hole championship golf courses that are set against the backdrop of the El Yunque Rainforest’s scenic mountains, the Mameyes River, and the Atlantic Ocean.

Dining venues at the beachfront hotel range from Palio with authentic Italian dishes, to Sea Breeze with its casual al fresco setting and delicious seafood menu. There are bars and lounges where guests can relax with handcrafted rum cocktails, coffees and juices, whilst enjoying views of the beach and sea.

After a series of hurricanes and storms hit the island of Puerto Rico last September, the nation has been rushing to get things back to normal and open businesses. Wyndham is helping this process by donating money from every room booked every night during April to the El Yunque Rainforest Restoration Fund.
