Oman Air begins operations of flights from new Muscat International Airport

Oman Air has commenced its first flights from the new Muscat International Airport. Oman’s national airline will be operating up to 200 flights a day from the new state-of-the-art terminal. The airport will now have the capacity to handle 12 million passengers per year, and it has a runway that can accommodate the Airbus A380, the world’s largest aircraft.

Oman Air has started operating flights from the new Muscat International Airport. The airline is operating up to 200 flights a year to destinations all over the world.

Built by sultan Qaboos bin Said, the new airport will be able to accommodate up to 12 million passengers a year. Its runway will also be able to accommodate the Airbus A380, the largest aircraft in the world.

Abdulaziz Al-Raisi, the Acting chief executive of Oman Air, explained:

“The opening of the new Muscat International Airport has long been anticipated and is a momentous occasion in the sultanate’s history.”

“Here at Oman Air we are confident this new development will allow us to offer our valued guests a new level of service that is sure to exceed their high expectations."

Al-Raisi added:

“As a major stakeholder, our strategy is to support the anticipated growth in tourism and logistics and we are stepping up investment. In 2018, we have already announced the arrival of new aircraft, routes to North Africa Russia and Europe, and an expansion of existing services.”

The opening of the new terminal will support Oman Air’s expansion plans. The national air carrier of Oman is looking to operate 62 aircraft to 60 destinations by 2022. Oman Air is based in the capital city of Muscat and was officially established in 1993. The airline currently has a fleet of approximately 40 aircraft, including Airbus A330 which feature the world’s first on board connectivity service that enables passengers to make phone calls, send text messages and surf the internet during flights.

The carrier operates flights to more than 50 destinations in 27 countries all over the world, and it also has codeshare agreements with airlines including Emirates, Thai Airways, and KLM. The airline received the World’s Ultimate Service Award in Hospitality at the World Travel Awards in 2017.

Oman is a country on the Arabian Peninsula in the Middle East, bordered by the United Arab Emirates. The country is home to rich culture and heritage, and is boasts a long sandy coastline that is dotted with sandy beaches and soaring sand dunes. The country’s capital Muscat is thriving with art, theatres, shops, and magnificent natural landscapes. Popular tourist attractions include the Royal Opera House, Muscat gate Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.
