Banyan Tree Phuket in Thailand appoints new executive chef

A new executive chef has been appointed at the Banyan Tree Phuket in Thailand. Ian John Thomason, from the UK, has taken over the role at the luxury hotel. The British chef has worked at numerous renowned kitchens from The savoy and the Sofitel London St James, to the Sheraton Grand Laguna Luxury Collection Phuket and Luxury Collection, Naka Island, Phuket.

Banyan Tree Phuket in Thailand appoints new executive chef

The Banyan Tree Phuket in Thailand has announced the appointment of a new executive chef. The role has been taken by Ian John Thomason, who graduated from Stafford in England, and he will be responsible for overseeing operations of the kitchens in the resort’s restaurants, including its signature Thai venue, Saffron.

Before starting his role at the luxury Banyan Tree Phuket, Thomason worked at a number of upscale hotels in the UK and Thailand. He started his career at Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland, and he went on to test his culinary skills in kitchens at The Savoy in London where he was the senior sous chef, and the Sofitel London St James, where served as executive sous chef under chef Albert Roux.

In Thailand, Thomason worked at the Sheraton Grand Laguna Luxury Collection Phuket as executive sous chef, and at the Bangkok at Pullman Bangkok King Power Hotel as an executive sous chef in 2008. Before joining the Banyan Tree was, he worked as executive chef at Luxury Collection, Naka Island, Phuket, for more than five years.

Banyan Tree Phuket is an upscale resort on Phuket Island which boasts luxury pool villa accommodation. The rooms and suites feature luxury amenities such as wooden furnished decking areas, his and hers dressing rooms, open-air bath tubs, iPod docking stations, flat-screen TVs, CD and DVD players, mini bars, and coffee and tea making facilities.

The resort’s facilities include an award-winning golf course, a lavish spa with pampering treatments, a modern fitness centre, a library, a 40-metre lap pool, Jacuzzis, three tennis courts, and the Turtle Club for Kids. Guests can savour exquisite cuisine at the property’s collection of gourmet restaurants including Sands, Saffron, Tamarind Restaurant, Watercourt, and the Pool Bar.

Guests staying at Banyan Tree Phuket can hike to the hilltop Big Buddha of Phuket, wander along Bangla Road with its vibrant nightclubs and bars, or relax in the sunshine on the crescent-shaped beach in Patong, Popular attractions include the Phuket Fantasea theme park, the Wat Chalong Buddhist temple, the Splash Jungle Water Park, Phuket Zoo, and the Phuket Aquarium.
