European visitors to Panama increase
Panama recently reported an increase in the number of European tourists entering the country from January to May of 2017. The country welcomed 102,388 European tourists in that period, a more than 25% increase over the same period in 2016. The country is increasingly popular with tourists from around the world, who appreciate its beauty, safety, and stability.
In the first five months of 2017, Panama welcomed a total of 102,388 European tourists, a 25.4 per cent increase over the same period last year. The increase was reported along with data from the Panama Tourism Authority.
According to the report, most of those visitors came from Spain, Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands. Most of those visitors chose Panama for its nature and culture, according to the report.
To encourage even more visitors to the country, Panama Journeys is offering an exclusive dining experience at the La Vista restaurant, which is set in the hills of Taboga Island, a volcanic island located in the Gulf of Panama.
Known for its stunning natural beauty, Taboga Island is also known as the “Island of Flowers” and offers spectacular views of Panama City and the ocean.
As part of the experience, guests will take a boat ride from the beginning of the Panama Canal on a private chartered ferry before enjoying a six-course meal at the restaurant. The meal will be prepared with locally sourced ingredients and accompanied with a glass of champagne.
Panama has witnessed an increase in tourism in the past few years. Visitors to the Central American country are drawn by its lush tropical beauty, and—unlike many of its neighbours—its stability, safety and stable economy. Since the country regained control of the Panama Canal, its economy has grown stronger, as has its tourism infrastructure. Tourist spending in Panama is the highest of any Central American country.
With both a Pacific and a Caribbean coast, the country has a wealth of oceanic activities, with snorkelling and scuba diving being popular pastimes on either coast. Nature-lovers will find much to explore in the jungles of the country’s interior, where hiking, mountain biking, and bird-watching are popular with tourists.
In addition to its natural beauty, Panama also boasts its famous namesake canal, one of the world’s greatest feats of engineering. Visitors can tour the canal in either partial or complete crossings, ranging from four to eight hours. From the restaurant atop the Miraflores Locks Museum, guests can watch vessels passing through the canal below.
