Thai resort the Sarojin introduces new catch and dine experience

Luxury boutique resort The Sarojin in the Thai beach enclave of Khao Lak has announced a new "catch and dine" experience for guests. The five-star hotel is offering fishing trips by long-tail boat followed by a dinner of their own catch of the day at the resort’s gourmet restaurant.

The package includes either estuary or deep-sea fishing in the Andaman Sea using traditional boats and local techniques offering guests a glimpse of local life. Guests depart from the jetty by longtail fishing boat with a Sarojin guide and an experienced local fisherman to find the area's best fishing spots.

There’s the chance to catch some of the world's most popular fish, including tuna and red or white snapper, and learn all there is to know about a day in a life of a Thai fisherman.

After arriving back at the The Sarojin in the afternoon, guests freshly-caught fish will be expertly prepared for dinner at the resort’s The Edge restaurant. The fish will be cooked according to a specific menu by Chef Gogh, who designs his dishes around the type of fish.

Guests can also opt for a wine pairing for their specific dish from The Sarojin's award-winning wine collection.

The catch and dine package is the latest in line of culinary experiences that the luxury hotel has introduced, including preparing street food for underprivileged children at the local Camillian Centre.

Classic Thai fruit-carving classes and two-day advanced Thai cooking classes are also available at the resort. Guests can take Thai cooking classes in various venues, including beside the resort’s waterfall, on the beach or at the fisherman’s hut.

Designed in a contemporary Asian style, The Sarojin has 56 luxury suites scattered across 10 acres of tropical grounds leading directly onto the beachfront. Each guest room features its own private garden and sundeck, couples' baths with waterfall showers, and plunge and relaxation pools that blend into the natural surroundings.

There are also a range of activities on offer at the resort, including free use of mountain bikes, sailing catamarans, sail boats, sea kayaks and windsurfing boards. No children under the age of 10 are permitted to stay at the resort.
