Royal Mansour Marrakech named as 9th most luxurious hotel in world
Flight Network has listed the Royal Mansour hotel in Marrakech as the ninth best luxury hotel in the world. The Canadian online travel agency handed over the judging to a panel of travel and tourism industry experts, and the luxury hotel in Morocco was recognised for its high standards in service, accommodation and facilities. Owned by King Mohammed VI of Morocco, the hotel has traditional Moroccan Riad accommodation, gourmet restaurants, and a lavish spa.

The list of results was determined by a panel of travel industry experts and judges. The Royal Mansour in Morocco was awarded 9th place out of a list compiled of nearly 1,000 luxury hotels, boutique accommodation, resorts, inns and lodges. The top spot was scooped by The Gritti Palace, Venice – A Luxury Collection Hotel in Italy.
Royal Mansour Marrakech is one of the most upscale hotels in Morocco, featuring beautiful architecture that has been inspired by Spanish, North African, and Portuguese design. There’s a network of underground tunnels that lead to 53 traditional Moroccan Riads, and are only accessed by private staff.
The private four-bedroom Riads span three levels and offer privacy for guests. The ground floor is home to a central courtyard that surrounds a living rooms, a dining room, a bar, a hall and an outdoor patio. On the first floor, there are bedrooms and bathrooms, and on the top rooftop terrace there are plunge pools, a fireplace, and a Moroccan tent. Larger Riads have swimming pools, steam rooms and a Hamman.
The spaces feature lavish design, carved ceilings, beautiful silk fabrics and brocades, Moroccan tiles, and custom-made furniture. The furnished rooftop terraces have rain sensors that detect the tiniest raindrop and automatically close the roof. The marble bathrooms have rain showers and separate bath tubs, and in-room modern amenities include minibars, wireless internet, and flat-screen TVs. All guests receive complimentary airport transfers, and guests staying in Riads with two bedrooms or more have access to a dedicated butler.
One of the hotel’s most lavish facilities is the spa which is bathed in natural light and is located on three floors. There are ten spa cabins, a PEDI:MANI:CURE Studio by Bastien Gonzalez, three spa suites for private treatments and exercises, two Hammans, a hairdressing salon with private manicure and pedicure suites, a Watsu bath area, a spa shop and a relaxation area. After their treatments, guests can unwind in the Spa Garden and Tea Lounge with a healthy snack or herbal tea. On the ground floor, there’s also an indoor swimming pool located within an orangery-style pavilion, and on the lower floor, there is a modern fitness centre.
The three onsite restaurants will delight the taste buds of guests, and are led by Chef Yannick Alleno. La Table, La Grande Table Marocaine, and La Grande Table Francaise offer Moroccan and international culinary delights within exquisite settings. There are three bars where guests can enjoy cocktails, wines and premium spirits. Royal Mansour Bar feature art-deco design and gold-leafed walls; the Chimney Lounge has live piano music, a fire with a transparent chimney, and views of the garden; and the Cigar Bar is a great place to enjoy a game of chess and a classic cigar.
