Emirates to launch new service to Phnom Penh in Cambodia in July

Emirates has announced that it will launch new flights from Dubai to Phnom Penh in Cambodia in July this year. With the number of British travellers visiting Cambodia doubling between 2006 and 2015, the airline will introduce the new service to keep up with demand. The flight will operate daily from Dubai using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with two class categories, and will travel via Yangon in Myanmar.

Emirates to launch new service to Phnom Penh in Cambodia in July

Dubai’s flagship carrier Emirates has announced that it will introduce a new flight between Dubai and Cambodia in July this year. The airline will operate a daily service that will stop at Yangon in Myanmar.

Operating on Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in a two class categories, the service will travel to Phnom Penh in Cambodia. The outbound flight will depart from Dubai at 09.15 local time, arriving in Yangon at 17:25, before leaving Yangon at 18.55 and heading to Phnom Penh to arrive at 21.25 local time. The return journey will depart Phnom Penh at 23.10, and will arrive in Dubai at 05.40 local time with a brief stop in Yangon.

The flights will provide good connections for passengers travelling to and from European hubs including Paris, Frankfurt and London.
Cambodia has become an increasingly popular destination for UK travellers over recent years, and numbers have doubled between 2006 and 2015. In 2014 and 2015, the number of UK visitors increased by 16 per cent.

Phnom Penh is a city that sits on the mouth where the Mekong and Tonle Sap Rivers meet in the south central region of Cambodia. The city was once ruled by the French, and it is the country’s largest and wealthiest, which is evident through its ancient temples, museums and tourist attractions.

Some of the popular hotspots include the beautiful Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, the 12th-century Phrom Temple at Tonle Bati, Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, the sombre The Killing Fields, the Wat Langka pagoda, and the Natural Museum of Cambodia. The art deco Central Market is the perfect place to pick up a souvenir or browse stalls that are selling a range of Cambodian food, jewellery, shoes, clothes, flowers.

Phnom Penh has recently seen new development and the addition of new luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants and lively cafes. The city is full of green parks, bustling markets and boutiques, and lively bars and nightclubs.

Emirates is the largest air carrier in the Middle East, offering thousands of flights to destinations in more than 70 countries worldwide. Based in Dubai, the airline launched commercial flights in Dubai and Middle Eastern destinations in 1985, and it has since become one of the world’s most luxurious airlines.
