The luxury hotel group Ritz-Carlton has announced that will be refurbishing its Al Bustan Palace in Oman. The work will be carried out over a series of phases and will include the renovation of all its accommodation.

The project will be led by the creative design firm WATG and its interior design studio, Wimberly Interiors. All 200 guest rooms and 50 suites will be completely refurbished, and the work will commence this spring and is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of 2018.

Katrin Herz, the General Manager at Al Bustan Palace, commented:

"Al Bustan Palace is an enduring symbol of the rich traditions of Omani hospitality and following the restoration, the Palace will be revealed as a repository of local culture and traditions.

"In tandem, we wanted to take the palace to the next level of luxury for our affluent guests. I look forward to unveiling a new Palace in which iconic design meets modern luxury, setting the stage for lifelong memories and extraordinary experiences in Oman.”

The refurbishment programme will include the upgrade of facilities including the recreation centre, fitness centre, the grand ballroom, the all-day restaurant, the lobby lounge, and meeting and events space. Many of the areas will be revamped for the first time in 10 years, and some since the hotel first opened more than three decades ago.The redesign will be inspired by the works of traditional Oman artists.

The hotel’s accommodation boasts terraces with views of the sea, mountains and gardens, and in-room amenities include flat-screen TVs, work desks, coffee makers, and seating areas. Facilities at the property include three exquisite restaurants, swimming pools, a kids club, tennis courts, meeting rooms, a fitness centre, and a spa with sauna, steam room, hammam, and a variety of treatments inspired by ancient traditions in the Middle East.

The Al Bustan Palace was built in 1985, and is one of the leading luxury hotels in Oman. Set between the Hajaar Mountains and the Sea of Oman in the capital city of Muscat, the luxury hotel is located next to a private stretch of sandy beach and within landscaped lush gardens.

The port city of Muscat is located on the north coast on the Gulf Oman, surrounded by the vast desert and soaring mountains. It is home to an array of tourist attractions including traditional souks, the Royal Opera House, Muscat gate Museum, the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, and the Natural History Museum.
