Norwegian Airlines reinstates flights to Puerto Rico

Flights to Puerto Rico have been reinstated this month by Norwegian Airlines from London Gatwick Airport. The twice-weekly flights will take tourists to the white sand beaches of the Caribbean island in just over nine hours.

Norwegian Airlines will operate the service until 22nd March, 2017 when the region’s high season comes to an end. The service will be operated on 787 Dreamliner aircraft, and air fares start from just £159 one way.

The lesser-known island in the Caribbean offers beautiful uncrowded beaches, turquoise sea, luxury hotels, and delicious local culinary delights. The new flights will help UK tourists reach the tropical destination in a nine-hour flight.

The island’s 300 miles of pristine coastline attracts visitors from all over the world, and there are plenty of magnificent natural sights to enjoy such as La Coca Waterfalls and El Yunque tropical rainforest. The underground caves of Rio Camuy Cave Park, the beaches in Rincon are hotspots, while the bioluminescent water in Mosquito Bay in Vieques is a Mecca for snorkelers. The country boast historic sites including the 500-year old walls of the El Morro fort and Castillo de San Cristobal. Some of the best beaches can be found in Condado, Isla Verde, and the island of Culebra, which is approximately 20 miles away from Puerto Rico.

One of the newest attractions to open in Puerto Rico this year was the longest zip line in the world, named "The Monster". The zip line measures 2.3 kilometres in length and has been verified by the Guinness World Records as the same length as 28 football fields. Adrenalin junkies will find the zip line in the Toro Verde Adventure Park and they can soar over the tree tops of this thriving ecological adventure park.

The vibrant capital San Juan is a Spanish colonial city, and visitors can wander along Old San Juan’s narrow streets that are lined with theatres and museums, or enjoy picnics n the verdant parks. Popular attractions include 16th-century architectural delights such as El Morro, El Catedral de San Juan Bautista and La Fortaleza. Isla Verde is an upscale area home to beautiful golden-sand beaches, luxury global-chain hotels, restaurants and shops, and it is close to the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport.
