Westin Jakarta hotel opens to guests in 200-metre-high Gama Tower

The Westin Jakarta has officially opened to guests in one of Indonesia’s prime locations. Occupying the top 20 floors of the 69-storey mixed-use Gama Tower in Jakarta, the property is the highest luxury hotel in Indonesia, measuring 200 metres high.

The hotel has 272 guest rooms and suites, all offering fantastic views of the city below. All rooms are spacious with contemporary decor, and feature bathrooms with separate bathtubs and rainforest showers, a walk-in storage and closet area, floor-to-ceiling windows, coffee makers, refrigerators, iPod docking stations, 55-inch flat-screen TVs, and wireless internet.

Paula O’Callaghan, Senior Associate.at Hirsch Bedner Associate (HBA), who designed the hotel, explained:

“A hotel of this scale is never designed overnight, and Starwood’s Westin branding also evolved during HBA’s design development, which helped to add layers to the original design intent. We collaborated with Silver Fox where the lobby overlooks into the all-day dining restaurant, ensuring both consultancy’s design married smoothly together instead of clashing.”

There are four dining venues that serve unique and international cuisine, as well as the brand’s signature healthy SuperFoodsRx menus. The all-day dining restaurant Seasonal Tastes offers buffet and a la carte options with seven live cooking stations, while Henshin serves a blend of Peruvian and Japanese dishes across three levels, including a rooftop bar on level 67. The Lobby Lounge serves coffees, cocktails and light bites until midnight, and Daily Treats has a variety of coffees, cakes, fresh breads, ice creams, and pastries.

For those who are looking to keep fit during their stay, the Westin Jakarta has a WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio with modern gym equipment and classes. Guests can also take advantage of the Westin Gear Lending programme with New Balance, where they can borrow clothing and shoes for their workout. There is also a swimming pool, and guests can unwind with luxury treatments and massages at the Heavenly Spa by Westin.

For business and events, the hotel has a business centre and meeting rooms with modern audio and visual equipment. There is a banquet area on the top levels of the hotel that can accommodate up to 200 guests, and on the ground floor there’s the 3,000-square-metre Java Ballroom which caters for larger events and weddings with space for 1,500 guests.

Westin Jakarta is located on Jalan Rasuna Said in the city’s commercial district, approximately one hour from the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Holidaymakers can visit attractions including the National Museum of Indonesia, Maritime Museum, Bogor Palace, Ancol Dreamland theme park, and the Wayang Museum, which is dedicated to puppetry.
