New Chief Operating Officer appointed for Lux* Resorts and Hotels in Maldives, Europe and Middle East
Dominik Ruhl has been appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer of the LUX* Resorts and Hotels. The former Regional Director of the group will be responsible for resorts in the Indian Ocean, Europe and in the Middle East. The news comes following the opening of LUX* South Ari Atoll in the Maldives last week, and the development of the brand new island resort LUX* North Male Atoll which will open in 2017.
Lux* Resorts and Hotels has announced the appointment of Dominik Ruhl as the group’s new Chief Operating Officer. Formerly the Regional Director of the hotel company, Ruhl has more than 25 years in the hospitality industry across the globe.
The German national will be responsible for hotels across the Indian Ocean, Europe and the Middle East. He had various roles at global hotels but he landed his first General Manager role in the Maldives.
After studying in Germany, Mr Ruhl began his career in the United States where he worked for Ritz-Carlton in Cleveland and Hawaii. He then started working at the Four Seasons Resort, Punta Mita in Mexico before he made the move in 2000 to the Maldives where he worked in worked with management teams at properties including Hilton Maldives, Mirihi and the Anantara Resort. In 2010 he began his role as General Manager for LUX* Resorts & Hotels, and he was promoted to Regional Director in 2014, overseeing the properties in Maldives, Middle East and Greater China.

The news comes after the re-opening of the LUX* South Ari Atoll in the Maldives last week. The luxury resort temporarily closed between June and August to carry out refurbishments and it reopened in 1st September with a new LUX Me Spa and upgraded facilities. The resort has spacious Pool Water Villas, Water Villas, Beach Villas, and Beach Pavilions, all boasting stunning ocean views and contemporary furnishings.
Facilities at the resort include numerous restaurants with indoor and outdoor seating and a wide range of international culinary delights, from Eastern cuisine to fresh seafood. Guests can relax in stylish bars overlooking the pool or turquoise lagoon. The LUX Me Spa is perfect for replenishment and has a variety of treatments for men and women, as well as a fitness centre and yoga classes within a tranquil setting.
A new island development is underway in the north of the Maldives called LUX* North Male Atoll, and it is scheduled to open in 2017. Located 31 miles from Male and the international airport, the upscale resort will be accessible via speedboat.
The chic resort will have private water villas perched above the lagoon, each boasting a private pool and wraparound decking area with stunning ocean views. The resort’s architecture is being designed by the Miaja Design Group, and it is being built using natural materials including hand-polished woods. The property will have an onsite marine biology centre where experts can educate guests about the surrounding natural habitat in the lagoon and Indian Ocean.
