El Dorado Maroma offers new luxury option in Mexico with over-the-water bungalows
Travellers to Mexico now have a new luxury option in accommodations, bringing them closer than ever to waterfront indulgence. A Riviera Maya resort just added over-the-water bungalows to its already impressive options in holiday lodging, marking a first-of-its-kind of experience for travel to Mexico.
While Mexico is known for being home to a number of resorts communities with exquisite hotels and impressive amenities, a new option in lodging has just entered the luxury market. The Riviera Maya resort of El Dorado Maroma recently opened up the country’s first over-the-water bungalows.
A scenic picture of the new bungalow is on display in an article published on Travel Market Report. Author Jessica Montevago explains that 30 of the bungalows, also referred to as "palafitos", opened at the resort on 1 September. With a thatched roof, the bungalow sits on several posts above the water, complete with a spacious deck and chairs, allowing visitors to lounge in privacy just off their secluded space.
Montevago writes that each of the bungalows also comes complete with a private infinity pool and outdoor shower, along with an indoor jacuzzi and a glass-bottom floor. As well, guests are treated to special services such as customized beach picnics and exclusive beach beds. In addition, there are also comforts such as on-demand butler service and 24-hour room service. The “Gourmet Inclusive Experience” extends to sommeliers and gourmet dining during a visit.
Guests may enjoy a private glass-floor dining room at the Overwater Ocean Grill & Wine Bar, with Caribbean Sea views. As well, indoor and outdoor spa treatments are offered at the Naay Overwater Spa.
Overlooking Maroma Beach, named by Travel Channel as one of the world’s top ten beaches, nightly stays start at $665 per person in this adults-only resort. Part of Karisma Hotels & Resorts, the El Dorado Maroma also offers guests access to live music and activities during the day and evening, as well as tennis courts, a fitness centre and scuba clinics. Guests may also participate in water sports such as snorkelling, kayaking and paddleboats.
Located along the Yucatan Peninsula, Riviera Maya is impressively situated right on the Caribbean coast, with beautiful white sand and turquoise water. It is also close to ancient Mayan ruins, plus the vibrant town of Playa del Carmen, filled with a number of impressive all-inclusive resorts that are popular with tourists.
