Savour your holiday at one of the 6 most romantic beaches in the world
Narrowing down your list of where to go on holiday with your significant other may seem like a daunting task, especially if you are in search of one of the globe's best beaches. To help you out, a nationally respected women's magazine just named the top six most romantic beaches in the world. Does your favourite make the list? Read ahead to find out!
Calm turquoise water, secluded coves and remote stretches of sand are not simply the things dreams are made of, they’re the ingredients of what could become one of your most romantic holidays yet! Glamour magazine recently published an article detailing a select list of the world’s most romantic beaches, and as the article promotes, once you see the list you won’t want to “waste your vacation days on anything else”!
According to the publication, Glamour polled 1,000 women for details on their dream vacation, then arranged for 13 of the world’s top travel bloggers to come up with the destinations travellers want the most, all inexpensively priced at less than $1,000! Not only do the experts say the beaches are the most romantic in the world, but the most picturesque, too.
Great Rock Bight - Massachusetts
Starting in the U.S., the first location is in Martha’s Vineyard at Great Rock Bight. The article quotes alexinwanderland.com blogger Alex Baackes in describing the remote beach, assessable after a half-mile long trail hike, then a climb up steep steps. Still, though, the blogger claims the journey is worth it, offering views across Vineyard Sound and the likelihood of being the only visitor there.
Kealakekua Bay - Hawai
Heading to the opposite side of the U.S., the next romantic beach listed in the article is Kealakekua Bay on the Big Island of Hawaii. This beach is also described as remote, reached after hiking a two-mile long trail through dense woodland and lava fields. The location is noted as a top snorkelling and kayaking spot by jessieonajourney.com blogger Jessica Festa. She writes:
“With a mountainous backdrop and turquoise water, it’s the perfect place for a romantic picnic.”
Maya Bay - Thailand
Heading to Thailand, the article attributes the choice of Maya Bay in Ko Phi Phi Leh, Thailand as a favourite of curiositytravels.org blogger Jessica Wray. The blogger notes the location is the one that actor Leonardo DiCaprio kissed Virginie Ledoyen in the film ‘The Beach’. Wray writes the site itself is easily identified by its enormous limestone formations and the cove’s crystal-clear water, lighted in the evening by bioluminescent plankton.
Praia do Paraiso- Portugal
“Perfectly enclosed by tall cliffs, it’s paradise”, is how thetravelhack.com blogger Monica Stott describes to Glamour Praia do Paraiso in the Algarve, Portugal. The travel writer expands upon this by describing the location of the private cove as sitting alongside the country’s southern coast, just steps from the main Carvoeiro Beach. She adds Praia do Paraiso is also often void of people.
Playa Zipolite - Mexico
The next romantic beach on the list supplied to Glamour is for the most self-secure travellers, as it is swimsuit optional. Located in Oaxaca, Mexico, Playa Zipolite is found tucked away on Mexico’s rugged Pacific coastline. Blogger Andrew Sim and girlfriend Emily Gough of alongdustyroads.com write the beach is found “Just past the Nude Bungalows and Spa”. They continue by adding the cove is secluded and beautiful, “with just enough privacy to give you the courage to shed your swimsuit—it’s allowed!”
Wilderness Beach - Puerto Rico
The article concludes by adding Wilderness Beach in Puerto Rico to the list. Blogger Christina Perez of insideelsewhere.com remarks travellers reach the beach by taking a 20-minute trail walk through the jungle. Perez continues by describing the beach as rock-shielded and, “so magical and windswept it feels like a mermaid could wash ashore at any moment”.
From remote and relaxing locations to those that inspire travellers to rekindle their romance, Glamour advises readers to pack their bags immediately and uncover one of these six amorous beach destinations.
