The Holiday Place attends Mexican Appreciation Dinner in London
Cara Hotel Marketing, the company responsible for representing and promoting AMResorts in the UK market, in conjunction with Aeromexico and the Mexican Tourist Board in the UK, recently organised a special Mexican Appreciation Dinner at London's Mestizo restaurant in Euston Square. As long-standing partners, The Holiday Place was invited to attend the event which included a short presentation to briefly update us on various AMResorts properties in Mexico and an overview of Aeromexico's flight routes to the UK. The special evening gathering also celebrated the successful end of The Year of Mexico in the UK.
Two days ago The Holiday Place was pleased to attend a festive event celebrating Mexico and gathering some of the key players in Mexico’s incoming UK tourism market.
Organised by some of Mexico’s biggest tourism authorities in the UK, including Mexico’s national flagship carrier, AeroMexico, the Mexico Tourism Board and Cara Hotel Marketing, the PR company representing the Mexican-based hotel chain, AMResorts.
The evening kicked off with some strawberry margaritas and tequila shots on free-flow from the downstairs section of the Mestizo restaurant in London’s Euston Square and some freshly made tacos and quesadillas being made-to-order onsite by two Mexican chefs, guaranteeing a truly authentic Mexican flavour and feel throughout. Latin background music helped set the party mood in this quaint and cosy space where everyone gathered and mingled while enjoying the free-flowing drinks and tasty food.
Leading the event was Sarah Spooner, Business Development Manager at Cara Hotel Marketing, together with the Deputy Director of the Mexico Tourism Board in the UK, Alejandro Grageda.
After a while of chit-chat over drinks, some small talk between tasty bites and generally, some networking among everyone present, Sarah Spooner gave a short speech to welcome everyone to this special evening and introduce some of the event’s key organisers:
"First of all, thank you all very, very much for coming, we really appreciate you spending the evening with us here at Mestizo. Hopefully you’ve had a little bit of Mexican food already and had some margaritas and helped yourself to some tequila shots as well.
"Firstly, I just really wanted to thank Aeromexico, here we have Claudia and Venetta here representing Aeromeixco. And also, of course, Alejandro from the Mexican Tourist Board - without both of them we wouldn’t be able to be here tonight"
She proceeded to give a short slide presentation to introduce the audience to some of AMResorts latest in-resort developments and new hotel openings coming up soon this month and all the way into the next year and the start of the following one.
Following this, Venetta Perry, Market Manager for the UK and Ireland at Aeromexico, took centre stage to give yet another brief presentation and overview of Aeromexico; going into more detail about where they fly from and where they fly to, introducing their newest routes and the technological innovations across their fleet.
"We fly from London Heathrow Terminal 4 as you may know, we go straight to Mexico City and from Mexico City we fly to 16 destinations in the U.S. We fly to 16 destinations in Latin and South America and we also fly to Shanghai and Tokyo and several destinations in Canada as well."
Speaking of their most recently launched routes linking Mexico City to more parts of the Americas, she added:
"We have new routes that we have just launched in Colombia, Panama, Boston, Toronto, Vancouver, Queretaro and Cozumel. As of 1st October we started flying to Cozumel straight from Mexico City and to Santo Domingo; we have four weekly flights to Santo Domingo."
She went on to remind everyone that Aeromexico’s daily flights from London depart at 10. 30 p.m. and arrive into Mexico City the next day at 9.30 which means that:
“...wherever you’re heading to, wherever it’s Puerto Vallarta or Los Cabos or Cancun (…), we have all the connections from there."
Perry further elaborated:
"In Mexico you can literally fly everywhere with Aeromexico. Wherever you want to go you can go with us, there is unparalleled coverage – all the beach destinations as well as all the central parts of the country. We have 470 flights in 44 destinations as of today."
Giving further details about the aircraft Aeromexico uses for their long-haul routes, Perry concluded:
"We fly the Boeing 787 Dreamliner from London; it’s a fantastic aircraft with 243 seats; 211 in Economy and 32 in Business. It’s a flight where you don’t really get jetlag, as some of you who joined me on a recent famtrip know very well."
Before concluding she went into more detail about the comforts of the innovative and greener Dreamliner (which they fly from all their long-haul destinations) including more leg space in the Economy cabin and completely lie-flat seats in Premier or Business Class, with gourmet menus, individual entertainment, priority check-in and more.
She also added that they have just launched a new chauffeur service for every Business Class ticket sold in which passengers enjoy luxury rides on a Mercedes transfer to anywhere in London straight from the airport. Now, that's really going the extra mile for exclusivity and added value!
To give a special finishing touch to the night a special raffle was announced at the end with various prizes, the biggest of which consisted a full seven-night Mexico holiday staying at the newly opened Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya with return flights by Aeromexico included. Runner-up prizes also included two books, restaurant vouchers and tequila bottles from the Mexico Tourism Board.
From The Holiday Place’s team, our Marketing Manager, Anna Vine got lucky and won a bottle tequila before the grand finale took over with the arrival of three authentic Mexican mariachis who cheerfully serenaded the night away. The perfect end to a perfect night, thank you Mexico!
