A slice of the Indian Ocean arrives to The Holiday Place

This Friday The Holiday Place was warmed with a little Indian Ocean sunshine delivered by regional expert from Constance Hotels and Resorts, Emma Wootton. She came to our office to lead a training session and update us on two of the seven properties her hotel chain owns in this blessed part of the world; more precisely the Constance Belle Mare Plage in Mauritius and the Constance Moofushi in Maldives.

A slice of the Indian Ocean arrives to The Holiday Place

This morning we were given a more in-depth insight into two of Constance Hotels and Resorts properties in the Indian Ocean. The lovely Emma Wootton came down to our office to enlighten us on two of the properties she oversees as Sales Executive at Constance Hotels and Resorts.

Kick-starting with Constance Belle Mare Plage, located in Mauritius’ North East, about an hour’s drive from the airport, we were introduced to a beautiful deluxe five-star hotel poised on a pristine two-kilometre-long stretch of private beach. Quite a large hotel property with all 256 rooms scattered along the sprawling beach and all of them boasting large open spaces, split in a variety of room categories.

"It’s a private beach completely, so an absolutely stunning spot to spend a week, two weeks or, in a lot of our clients’ cases; three to four weeks."

We learnt that the lead-in room category is the Prestige Room and for it being a standard room category it’s extremely spacious, they are all set in the resort’s gardens but most have sea views while some of them actually some of them are actually beach-facing.

Next up in terms of accommodation are the Junior Suites located in the gardens, or, for a bit extra, you can go for one of the ones set directly on the beach. The key difference between Junior Suites and Prestige Rooms is that the former are more spacious, they feature a separate seating area and a dressing room in the bathroom.

Ideal for families, the Deluxe Suites which are the same size as Junior Suites in terms of the bedroom, but they also have a lounge on the side where up to two children can sleep separate from the parents. From May through to October two children under 18 will stay free with their parents on the same board basis.

The villas on the beach are very private and much more exclusive as they each have their own entrance, plunge pool and a personal host is assigned to guests on arrival who takes care of their special requests and arrangements, like booking spa treatments, restaurant reservations and any other special extras they may require during their stay. They are all offer either two or three bedrooms and they also have an ensuite spare bedroom and a lounge area that leads onto the plunge pool.

There is one more room, the Presidential, which is great for larger families or groups but we weren’t briefed on this one features all the amenities and facilities of previous room categories but is much larger than all of these.

Standard board basis is Half Board in all rooms and suites and Bed and Breakfast in the suites but guests can upgrade to Full Board, and according to Emma 90 per cent of guests upgrade to Premium All-Inclusive as it offers incredible value for only around £50 per person per night and luxury inclusions include fine dining meals at a selection of onsite restaurants, international premium branded drinks at the resort’s bars, daily re-stocked mini-bar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks as well as snacks.

On top of this those staying on an all-inclusive basis also get one free excursion per stay and complimentary green fees and golf carts at the two onsite golf courses.

Resort highlights in terms of facilities include 7 restaurants including two fine dining ones (not included on any board basis, although if you’re on all-inclusive you get one free dinner here per 7-night-stay) and one adjacent to the golf courses, 6 bars plus a wine cellar, two PGA 18-hole championship golf courses with complimentary green fees for all (across all board-basis).

A variety of water sports is also on offer and all non-motorised ones are complimentary. Children are well-looked-after at the onsite kids club for little ones aged between 4 and 11 and there is plenty to do for families and couples alike with pampering treatments at the U Spa by Constance and fun pursuits that include everything from water-skiing to mountain-bike hire, deep sea fishing and scuba diving.

All in all, she concluded;

"To sum up, The Belle Mare Plage is suitable for both families and couples. It’s very much an all-rounder: for families you have got a kids club – it is complimentary for children aged between 4 and 11 - and there are plenty of activities for them to be doing. They can do golf if they want to, there are mini golf clubs for little ones if they fancy that, they can go, mountain-biking, water sports, etc."

"Prestige Room is my favourite for a couple, it’s very good price and it’s very spacious. And to be fair, when the sun is shining, where are you going to be? Not in your room!"
