Oman Air has launched new nonstop flights between its capital and the capital of Malaysia this week.

The new flights operate between Muscat and Kuula Lumpur and were launched by the airline to keep up with growing demand between the two popular cities.

The airline currently operates flights between the two cities as sole operator and also under a codeshare partnership between Sri Lankan Airlines and Malaysian Airlines, but the new flight will be direct and will reduce travel time for passengers.

"Oman Air is delighted to be once again increasing the convenience and range of choices that we offer. Our new non-stop service between Muscat and Kuala Lumpur will be warmly welcomed by customers in both Oman and Malaysia, as well as those from further afield," stated Abdulrahman Al-Busaidy, the Chief Operating Officer of Oman Air.

"Malaysia is a very popular destination with passengers from both Oman and locations throughout our international network. With the holiday season for many countries starting in June, and the Eid holidays following in July, we anticipate very strong demand for flights to Malaysia from throughout the Middle East and Europe."

Nonstop economy return flights to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia are available from OR198 (US$514) and business class fares start from OR582, including tax and charges.

Oman's capital Muscat is a popular holiday destination, and tourists can walk for miles along the city's beautiful beaches and coastline, or explore the historic sites and attractions such as the Al Jalali Fort and Al Mirani forts, Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace, Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, Qurum National Park and the Bait az-Zubair Museum.

Despite the thousands of miles of dry golden sand deserts and soaring dunes, Oman is a fantastic destination for scuba diving and snorkelling activities and attracts thousands of divers every year. The shores off the coast of Oman's capital, Muscat, are teeming with colourful corals and thousands of marine species including seahorses, Oman clownfish, loggerhead turtles, dolphins, sharks and humpback whales.
