Oman as become an increasingly popular tourist destination in the Middle East over recent decades and travellers can enjoy a wide range of fun activities from scuba diving to windsurfing. One of the best places to enjoy desert windsurfing is the island of Masirah which is located off the east coast of Oman.

Oman has become a hotspot for windsurfing activities due to its strong desert winds and waves.

Located on the Arabic Peninsular, some of the best windsurfing can be found on the Island of Masirah off the east coast of Oman. Summertime brings the strongest winds and wave conditions that create hours of fun for windsurfing enthusiasts of all levels.

The island offers a selection of nautical sports and holidaymakers can enjoy excursions into the nearby hills and deserts such as dune buggying or jeep tours. Many of the best remote windsurfing spots can only be accessed via long drives through the desert.

With isolated sandy beaches and clear ocean waters, the island is also great for scuba diving and snorkelling activities, and tourists might get the chance to catch sightings of Oman's native sea turtles, as well as hundreds of diverse marine species, from seahorses and Oman clownfish, to loggerhead turtles, dolphins, sharks and humpback whales.
