New luxury all-inclusive slated for Jamaica's Negril beach

New luxury all-inclusive slated for Jamaica's Negril beach

A new luxury Royalton resort will replace the former Grand Lido Resort and Spa in Jamaica’s beach resort of Negril from autumn next year. The Grand Lido closed on 26 April 2015 for construction work to begin on the US$150 million transformation which will see more 300 rooms added to the complex. Both brands are managed by Blue Diamond Resorts.

The new property will be situated right beside the famously beautiful sands of Jamaica’s Negril beach and will offer an ‘All-In Luxury’ board basis for guests with ultra all-inclusive benefits such as reservation-free unlimited luxury dining, resort-wide wi-fi, and a 24-hour concierge service. The Royalton’s all-inclusive rooms feature the brand’s premium handcrafted DreamBeds and complimentary long distance calls.

The plan for the new Royalton resort will involve extensive changes to the current structure, according to local reports. Blue Diamond Resorts confirmed to regional newspaper the Jamaican Gleaner that it will more than double the number of rooms on offer at the previous Grand Lido from around 200 to 500.

According to the Jamaica Gleaner, the proposed renovations include a complete overhaul of the existing central building with an extensive redesign of the lobby, shops, VIP reception area, wedding planner office, motor lobby and ballroom. The restaurants, coffee shop, international buffet, and sports bar will also be changed extensively. There will be a new pool area replacing an existing chalet block and around nine completely new buildings throughout the complex, adding an extra 267 guestrooms.

The property will open for business in late 2016 as the second property under the Royalton brand in Jamaica. The proposed enlargement of the hotel is under close scrutiny because of local fears over erosion at Negril beach.
