Virgin Atlantic will be launching a new service to Tobago this spring from London Gatwick Airport (LGW).

The flights to Tobago (TAB) will commence in March and will operate on Sunday mornings until October, and on Tuesdays and Saturdays from October onwards.

The service will include a brief stop in St Lucia before carrying on to its final destination and the flights will be operated on an Airbus A330-300 aircraft offering passengers 33 upper class, 48 premium economy and 185 economy seats.

The airline added the new service in response to "an opening in the market".

Joe Thompson, the Director of Network and Alliances at Virgin Atlantic, explained:

"The Caribbean has long been at the heart of our leisure operation and we're really excited to be offering our customers flights to beautiful Tobago once again.

We are always looking for opportunities to grow our network and provide our customers with even more travel options and with other operators withdrawing from this route, we believe our new services will be very popular with British holidaymakers."

Virgin Atlantic operates 23 return flights a week across the Caribbean during the peak season.

Tobago is one half of the twin-island nation of Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean. The country boasts beautiful sandy beaches, warm turquoise ocean waters, majestic mountains, and verdant forests and rolling hills.

The nation is home to a selection of thriving nature parks, rainforests, and cascading waterfalls. Water lovers can scuba dive down to Buccoo Reef in Tobago and discover vibrant coral gardens within shallow crystal-clear ocean waters.

Annual festivals include Divali, the Hindu festival of lights and the Tobago Heritage Festival, and active travellers can take part in activities such as golf, snorkelling, diving, sailing and horse riding.
