British Airways to increase daily flights to Antigua in 2015 Summer Season

The Tourism Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Asot Michael, has announced that British Airways will be increasing the number of daily flights to the island nation next summer.

The UK's national airline will be adding one extra flight to its schedule in the summer of 2015, bringing the number of daily flights from London to Antigua from six to seven.

The twin-island nation of Antigua and Barbuda sits between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean and the isles are famous for their wide selection of beautiful pristine pink and white sand beaches; one for every day of the year.

The islands boast natural scenery that is typical of the Caribbean with palm-fringed beaches; warm turquoise ocean waters; and verdant forests and emerald landscapes.

Barbuda is the smaller of the two islands, located north of Antigua, and it is a popular place to enjoy bird watching at the Frigate Bird Sanctuary in the Codrington Lagoon. The island is less built-up and offers a wide selection of luxury beachfront hotels and resorts.

Antigua is the main and larger island and is a popular destination for weddings and honeymoons, family Caribbean holidays, and annual sailing regattas.

The country's new airport terminal at the at the V.C. Bird International Airport will open in November, tripling the number of departure gates and adding new shops, restaurants and lounges for holidaymakers.

This summer, the nation recorded a 22 per cent increase in the number of visitors from the UK arriving to Antigua and Barbuda, compared to the same period in 2013.

British Airways operates a wide range of flights to the Caribbean from several airports in the UK. The airline provides weekly routes to tropical, sunny destinations such as Turks and Caicos, Grenada, Jamaica, Antigua, Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and St Lucia.
