Sunset House extends scuba diving experience to guest rooms
Four guest rooms at Sunset House in the Cayman Islands are offering visitors an extended scuba diving experience thanks to the work of renowned underwater photographers. Photographs taken by Ellen Cuylaerts, Cathy Church and Jim Hellemn and Courtney Platt are displayed in the rooms at the Caribbean dive resort.
Sunset House in the Cayman Islands is renowned for its crystal clear waters and underwater delights, and now guests can enjoy the beauty of the underwater world in their rooms.
Four rooms at the scuba diving resort have been decorated with images taken by some of the diving industry's most renowned underwater photographs.
The rooms feature artwork by Courtney Platt, a famous photographer in the Cayman Islands who has had work published in National Geographic Magazine, and Ellen Cuylaerts, Cathy Church and Jim Hellemn.
Ellen Cuylaerts was named World Champion Underwater Photographer 2013 at an international photo contest and her photograph of one of Grand Cayman's most popular dive sites, Devil's Grotto, is on display in Room 411 of the scuba diving resort. Ellen commented:
"As a newbie, to be able to show my work to divers from around the world makes me very proud. The selection of canvasses was difficult, but I chose mostly images taken in Cayman. Every encounter in the water brings something new, and I hope my work inspires people to keep looking with an open mind, every time. Beauty is everywhere."
Cathy Church is known as the resident photographer of Sunset House and she operates a photo centre at the resort.
Jim Hellemn's work, which can be seen in Room 407, focuses on ocean conservation and he specialises in underwater digital imaging. He said:
"Seeing the natural beauty that's here allows us to see what's in the ocean that we need to protect, especially when you see all of the reef life in one area, you really get a sense of what you're trying to protect in the ocean. I think that's very important for every diver and every person on land to understand."
Talking to a reporter Keith Sahm, the General Manager of Sunset House, explained:
"We're the capital of underwater photography here: great visibility, exciting marine life and reefs, and Sunset House has easy shore diving so photographers can just go out and indulge in their sport. With advances in technology and digital photography more and more divers are doing underwater photography so we have photographers here every day. It only makes sense to take their dive vacation experience to the next level."
Sunset House is an excellent resort for scuba diving holidays thanks to its idyllic beachfront location on Grand Cayman Island which allows divers easy access to the turquoise ocean, just a few steps away. The hotel has an array of facilities including the SeaHarvest Restaurant, My Bar, a swimming pool and a Jacuzzi.
Located in the west Caribbean Sea, south of Cuba, the Cayman Islands is a British overseas territory and is made up of three islands: Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman.
The island nation is one of the most popular scuba diving destinations in the Caribbean due to its crystal clear turquoise ocean waters that are thriving with marine species including hundreds of tropical fish, manta rays, sea turtles, stingrays, vibrant coral gardens, and reefs.
